I am probably completely wrong but I seem to remember it was said about two different players. Pinnock was one and I thought Mowatt was the other
Found it https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2021/july/alex-mowatt-departs/ "Despite the most lucrative deal ever offered to a Reds player, Mowatt has decided against extending his Oakwell career."
Fair enough I know they kept upping the offer. 2 years ago I would have always believed statements from conway now pinch of salt.
Irrespective of what Obbi is on, I think we can all agree that he’s not gonna amount to much for us, especially this season. Given his recent injury record and briefest of appearances. Another one in a long line of absolute bizarre signings.
He was not on for long on Wednesday but from what I saw of him he seemed off the pace and not in peak condition. Difficult to get into the game at that stage but unless Poya seems something in training that we haven't albeit in two sub appearances then he looks along way off a starting a game.
To be fair to the lad, he has played 30 mins so nowhere near match sharp. Add to that the service he got was woeful as well. But harsh to judge him yet surely. All I'm saying is that its definitely a gamble based on his injury history which looks like is just continuing into his time with us. I hope he can now stay injury free and we can say 10 games down the line hiw good his contribution is shaping up. Morris looks equally off the pace at the moment following his return to injury, again hope it's just match sharpness as he looked an absolute unit of a player last season. COYR.
Obbi Oulare is my favourite player at the club, simply because it will piss some of our fan base off if he actually plays well. He's picked up the mantle from Ben Williams and previously, Brad Potts.
I thought Victor has held the scapegoat mantle for the past 2 seasons. Definitely had the most stick this season.
I always give players and managers a chance to get up to speed, at least half a season, but I said on Wednesday night that this guy has never played football in his life, just looked like some random bloke they dragged of the street. I really hope he proves me wrong and goes on to be a legend. He lacked pace, fitness and awareness, I know he came on at a difficult time but those three assets should be on show at all times irrespective of the state of play. Especially in the second tier of English football.
