    Tell you what!

We couldnt be Kenny Brown. My leg is thicker than him. I was sorry to see him leave for Bournemouth, Can you remember his Testimonial, I think it was against a Don Revie 11, he actually scored a cracking goal in that match.

Laura has more meat on her bones than Kenny did !!

I remember Kenny putting an inch perfect 50 yard pass through for Alan Little to smash into the Reading net (playing towards the Spion Kop) during a 4-1 win, Autumn 1977. My late Father was always a big Kenny Brown fan, due to the fact that Brown never hid during a game despite always getting a torrent of abuse from the terrace boo boys every time he was in possession.

Kenny Brown was an unsung Hero in that team

Never shirked a challenge, not the greatest player to be honest, he got some horrible abuse from the Reds fans back then.
Always looked like he was going to get broken in two by the opposition midfield hard man, but always got stuck in.
Always the same with local lads, first ones to be abused, yet the same fans are ready to give imports plenty of time to settle in. If Mostto had come through from the Academy, he would have been vilified a long time ago.

and that alters the fact he scored more goals in the CHAMPIONSHIP

than KO and Mostto have this season in a better side?

Richards was a first team regular. Neither Mostto or KO have been regulars.

I'm sorry, but Marc Richards isn't a footballer he's just a big lad. Fair play to him he scored a few goals but I still don't think he's Championship quality, far from it.

How many games did he play to get his goals last season?

Agree about him not being good enough, but the point is neither are these 2.
But still people are saying we should give them time. They played 5 games together earlier this season and looked anything but Championship players. Yet last season everyone was quick to jump on Hayes and Richards and Nards back for not scoring. If we wanted strikers that could not score we could have saved about 600 grand by keeping the others. The new strikers are not good enough for this league, just like the ones they replaced.

I've never had a problem with local lads

However, if players are to be selected for the first team, then it should be based on ability and not their place of birth. The likes of Eric Winstanley, Pat Howard, Stewart Barrowclough, Mick Pickering, Mick McCarthy, Ian Banks & David Hirst were selected because of their talent, NOT because they were local lads. Talent has to be there first and foremost. The likes of Tonge, Heckingbottom, Kay, Austin,Wroe & Williams were moved on because Simon Davey didn't rate them (which, as the manager, is his right). They shouldn't have been kept on simply because they were locally born. Simon Davey didn't rate them and brought in players who, in his opinion, are superior.

I don't think they've been given much of a chance either

    But that's just my opinion.

    I agree with that entirely,

Although I would have kept Kay.
If they are ood enough play local lads, if not bring in someone else.
I do think that English Football is too saturated with overseas players.
The Academies are full of overseas players , so how can any home grown talent come through ?
I could never have imagined a time when Barnsley would have so many imports in the squad.
But I would rather have 11 imports that could play rather than 11 locals that cant.

    Odejaye

What I find strange about Ode is how hes sort of done everything in reverse. When he first signed he looked the part and scored a few in pre season. He seemed to have the power and pace and ability to turn defenders and when he got his first league goal against scunny I thought that he would progress from there.

A first goal is usually a good platform to build on but it just didnt happen. I think there is a role for both him and Mostto from now until the end of the season. I certainly hope so if only to silence the boo boys.

    to be fair

It took richards 139 minutes (2 hours 19) as a championship player to score a goal, by 284 minutes (4:44) he had scored 3. Odejayi took 422 minutes (7:02) to get his goal and has in total played 1257 minutes with just the 1 goal, that is 20 hours and 57 minutes of championship football, hitting the net just once.

To say that he has never been given a chance or a run in the side is a little strange considering he started 13 of the first 14 games, playing the entire 90 minutes 12 times.

Having said that, I quite like Odejayi but don't think we've played to his strengths.
