RE: looking at the live update on BBC .....

As the commentator said - he did everything by the book, he fought hard to get in a great position, he hit a clean strike, hard, low and on target. He forced the keeper to make a fine save. I know he has previous for missing the target and blazing good chances high or wide - but this wasn't like that.

RE: Does he run his socks off?

He pinched his money tonight, he was bloody awful, apart from another glaring 1-1 miss the effort was missing aswell except for a couple of runs. I guess one of those thats going to divide the fans, hes never going to be good enough.

In my opinion the reason we were over run for the last 30

was the lack of a strong midfielder alongside Colace, every second ball was picked up by their midfield and they didn't have to work to get to the edge of our area. Thought Dennis was MOTM for me.

RE: Caused them problems all night? Give over

He tired towards the end - hence the substitution - but don't let that detract from his first half performance which was excellent. It's hardly OJs fault we had our back to the wall for the last twenty minutes, there were other players far more at fault for that and we had a big hole in the centre midfield. He's not a world beater - but he does give his opponents a lot of cause for concern physically and he wins almost everything in the air.

I thought he was ok tonight. Credit to the keeper on his 1 on 1, saved it with his legs. He looked lost out wide though. If SD wanted to play that system then he should have sorted it so that JCR could play out wide. He should have been taken off earlier too, he was either tired or had given up.

To be fair though mate, he looked to be cramping up most of the time. For Davey to have replaced him before 80 minutes was, in my opinion, criminal.

We were crying out for Hassell to be put in the middle and JCR out wide as soon as we went 3-1 up.

Here is what he did last night:

    1. Ran fast

    2. Fell over when bumped into

    3. He also fell over when that tricky white round thing got caught up in his feet, aww bless!

Think that just about sums his performances up for most weeks

    that should read..........

Ran fast some of the time-jogged slowly back the rest of the time-he's not good enough for this level-I have tried to see the positives but they are greatly outweighed by the negatives

I thought he played pretty well.

He did all the dirty work up front. Won headers, chased down balls, got back and defended and generally made a nuisance of himself up front. He's the type of player that defenders hate playing against.

However, for all the hard work he does - he just doesn't score enough. If he could just hit the back of the net, maybe 10 times a season, he would be a key, key player just for the sheer havoc he causes up front. He won us around 5 free kicks in the last 10 minutes, which took the pressure off us immensely. For that, and his target man like endeavour, I salute him. But he needs to pitch in with a few goals.

Overrun in the last 30 minutes??? From what I saw OJ was playing down the right. Most of the problems including the 2nd goal seemed to stem from the Barnsley LH side crumbling and you could drive a coach and horses down the middle. Kozzie had a mare in the 2nd half One minute people are blaming OJ for lack of goals and the next tyhe defence crumbling is all his fault. Make yer minds up people.

You can't blame one player for being forced back in the last 30 minutes.

As a team. As a whole, we took our foot off the gas carelessly, and invited Burnley back into the game. Time and time again, there were holes opening up through the middle and down the left.

Odejayi cannot take the blame for being forced back. That's just ridiculous.

As a target man, last night, he was superb. He did everything that I'm sure his manager asked of him. He couldn't do anything more in that role. It's just, that in this day and age, strikers are judged on their goals - and Kayode is not a goalscorer.

RE:For me the best summary of OJ I have read for some time...

..agree 100%. I sometimes wonder what some people's agenda is re OJ. I can think of far worse strikers we have had. He terrifies defenders and, as you say, won a lot of free kicks which a) took some pressure of the defence, and b) broke Burnley's rhythm and momentum at times. He DOES needs more composure in front of goal and not panic as he seems to do now. As regards having no skill watch the Liverpool game he has quick feet and when not knackered as I think he was last night a lot of pace. He covers a lot of ground and 2 games in a short space of time has taken it out of him. I understand peoples frustration that, as a striker he does not score anywhere enough goals but he does get himself in scoring positions so the basics ARE there. As I said he needs some confidence to put them away. I seem to remember Dyer could score some fantastic goals when he had no time to think but also tended to panic when he had a clear 1 on 1 with plenty of time. I can understand why he is a regular in the side

He's not a goal scorer and never will be.But a dam good target man that wins the ball from some of the biggest defenders around and hasgot plenty of pace, and gets stuck in!(Y)

Professional footballer getting cramp after 55 minutes? You are right. All these people saying he is lazy is way off the mark; he does give everything he has. It's just a shame that what he has isn't very much and can't even manage an hour.

I thought he was useful tonight, and he is getting better. But it isn't hard to get better from that level, and unfortunately he's never going to be good enough.
