They dominated us. Every fear I’ve had about our style of play & not having an alternative was on display today. Wednesday knew that if they pressed us we’d either balls up or we’d have to go long to a striker who can’t hold a ball up. We have to some kind of alternative, there’s no out-ball, no one who can hold it up & bring others into play. Chaplin’s tiny & Schmidt doesn’t look much bigger, we’ve really got to hope George Miller can do a job. If teams play against us like Wednesday have then Woodrow will be every bit as ineffective as Bradshaw was at this level. I really hope I’m wrong but I think most teams will come at us like Wednesday did today rather than the Fulham approach of trying to outplay us
We foul them and handball it so lucky to not give away a penalty...... First goal our defence were weak at tackling and need to stop the tippy tappy rubbish so close to our own penalty area and clear our lines...... The defence were like a knife through butter for the second goal and need to toughen up and get stuck in.....
Do you realise that if you dont report this incident nothing will ever change. Paying spectators need more respect.
We were competitive first half but really poor second half i thought not enough creativity and constantly giving ball away in the final third made it difficult to sustain any pressure.Wednesday worthy winners.
Wednesday didn't press our defence up top. They left it to our defenders to make the pass out. Then they pressed.
One of those teams with two wins is Charlton, who we play next week.. That should be more a accurate test of where we actually are, than our first two games.
Dint go as away bt saw it on a shaky ifollow.. We are in the infancy of a new team and a return to the Championship.... Wednesday are an established club at this level and pay more for players etc etc...but I thowt in large parts of the game we were better and will only get better...they have wot theyve got and if Harris gets injured I fear for em stayin up..sucker punch goal in 2 mins saw us chasin the game and the 2nd was always on as we pushed out..bit more understanding and we cudda bin well in it..lost but optimistic...
First loss in the last five against Wednesday I believe. Don't let's get too dispirited. Hoped to get something today, but it sounds as though we were second best. Hope we can get back to winning ways against Carlisle. Really goes without saying, but we really need to get something against Charlton and Luton.
Think all of our forward line looked a little lightweight too, despite us getting away with a nailed on pen - I can’t understand why Harris didn’t get yellow carded for trying to snap Diaby in half, all he did wrong was try to carry on playing.
They did. I watched it, they continuously pressed Diaby, Anderson & our keeper but we were reluctant to go long because we’d got no out ball. Steven Fletcher looked like a 21 year old with how much pressing he did, superb
Wilks did nowt much. Moore might have ruffled some feathers. But overall i was quite pleased at how we seemed to be there for the loose ball - especially second half. I'm usually over critical. But this "better team" stuff as far as Wednesday are concerned - didn't see it today. Can't remember a passage of play where I thought "this lot are better than us".
I dont have a problem with the scoreline or the result. A pretty avarage side were f a r better than us and picked us off, i thought i was happy with 2..0. The midfield were very ineffective and their (owls) balls to wide positions were ripping us all over the place...they deserved their win. On a positive Diarby had a great game and the keeper looked good as did thiam when he came on. As long as we learn from this, it will have been worthwhile exercise.....but we need to. Bad day at the office.
How I saw it aswell. People saying we were never in it is ****** they took a early lead from a mcgheehan assist after that we dominated possession for the 1st half just our decision making was poor I watched on wednesday ifollow the most biased commentary every even at spells in the 1st half acknowledged we were dominating but with poor final balls.
i think this obssession with carrying the ball out of defence is going to cost this season a few times today diaby carried it nearly up to half way then got caught in possession leaving a massive hole at the back, just an off day hopefully...
No. We had our centre backs with all the time in the world to do as they liked. Once we had control of the ball. Compare how it was against Fulham. Or how we operate.
