If there was no offer on, how much would it cost me to buy a ticket for tonight's match?

With this offer, how much will it cost me to buy a ticket for tonight's match?

Amen brother. Personally I have not been to a game since the cup semi in 2008. That won't change until we are in the top six of the championship which at the moment seems unlikely.

This is precisely my point Jay. Not having a direct pop at you, at all. You're a good egg. But it's just another example of the point I've always stood behind - whatever the Club do with ticketing incentives, people will still find reason not to take it up.

If we were top of the league and flying, I genuinely believe those reasons would disappear.

The problem is the football is $hit

But it's not cheaper, that's the point. It's exactly the same price. It's the same as a 2-4-1 offer in a supermarket, you still have to hand over the same amount of money. One of the problems with attending football is the price and this doesn't address that. You can't say this proves that people won't come when it's cheaper if what they're offering isn't cheaper. If they ever do an offer that is significantly cheaper than the usual match price and people don't turn up, then fair enough, price has nothing to do with it. But the last two games we offered football for a fiver we sold the home end out and people were turned away. That suggests to me that the price has a hell of a lot to do with it.

The biggest irony in all this is that the club will attract relatively few extra customers with this offer and lose a significant amount of money, all because they're so cautious. The usual crowd who pay on the gate will get 2-4-1 tickets and over the two games the club's income will be slashed in half. History suggests that football for a fiver puts thousands and thousands extra on the gate and easily exceeds the income that we usually generate from the 1,000 (that's being very generous) who pay on the gate for a normal match. Plus the usual lot will pay the normal price for the next game anyway. Even if not one single person who took up the offer comes to another game, the club are still up on the deal.

But **** it, let's do something that we already know doesn't work.

It's a great offer, but must agree that I doubt many will have taken it up. I'd have gone for it, but working Saturday, so no point.

It's a great offer for people who pay on the gate regularly. It saves them money. It's not a great offer to tempt back lapsed fans or attract new ones.
