    Including to anyone with the intention of asset stripping it by selling the ground. Exactly what Cryne's deal was constructed to avoid at the time (which, you might recall, was following Doyle's tenure as owner where the likelihood of such a thing was fresh in the memory).

    Given what's occurred in recent years, I'll take the less saleable, but protected, option every time.

    Maybe when they first took over, but not now. There was cause for cautious optimism when they took over. Completely different set of circumstances. No one knew they were crooks, because crooks are very good at lying and concealing the truth. As of today, I doubt they have a single supporter. And I think it's been that way for a good 12 months at least.

    Perhaps his big news was that Conway and Chien were out of the club completely. Perhaps following their internal investigation and after presenting the facts to the EFL, they didn't expect the EFL to come for the club?

    Probably correct but the statement from the club says "............an internal review into the shareholdings of former directors Paul Conway and Chien Lee" which suggests to me, possibly wrongly on my part, that it was not only the composition/source of the Conway led investment that was opaque but potentially also that of Lee.

    Hoping so, looks to me the key was the individuals took the blame as they were fined more than the club each.
    Fingers crossed Conway/Lee do the same

    Well if all these charges relate to the original takeover in 2017 the EFL can hardly say we've gained any advantage from it, given we're now lower down the league ladder.
    It's not like we've thrown any money around to gain any advantage either.

    Important not to make knee-jerk reactions, but I can't help but feel this will now scupper our recruitment. I wonder what Collins & Stead are thinking right now?

    I dn't think it will make any difference Marc, it's painfully apparent from the recruitment so far that we're looking at bargain basement deals.

    I think even those we could struggle with though, and loan deals from stronger Clubs feel far less likely now. I just can't see many committing to us while this is wrangling on.

    Also, the club will have taken legal advice prior to starting and submitting their findings too.

    I think this is the start, to the end of Conway & Lee….. which ultimately may trigger the bigger news Khaled refers to…..

    The club absolutely cannot comment any further than they already have. So we’ll have to wait - but if things weren’t right in the last, they need to be cleared up now, and rightly so.

    You'd hope so, but it's also difficult to imagine how that could ever fly.
    "We'd like to offer you the job. However, just to make you aware that during your first week, we're going to be hit with EFL charges, which may or may not mean a fine and/or points deduction, which is likely to completely scupper our recruitment. Just so you know."

    I'd imagine they were well aware of it and what it entails with the recruitment...... Would also explain why no up and coming manager in this country would take the job.
