Just as a matter of interest. Are posters on their lunch break; don't work, defrauding their company or own the company. For the avoidance of doubt - I'm on holiday.

Just change the chant from Diaby to Mcgeehan/Stendel/Bahre etc. Alternate between every members of the squad/management team.

The reason their **** is massive is because they play/work for us and no other reason.

    Problem solved.

(Tongue in cheek before anyone takes me seriously!)

At my school there’s around 2000 students and staff altogether. I’d say around 30% of them are BAME, so around 600 people give or take. At my last school there were around 1000 students and staff with probably 60% being BAME so again, around 600 people. I’ve somehow managed to get through the last ten years I’ve worked there without saying a single racist thing or offending anyone.

I bet, and correct me if I'm wrong, but that's because you're a reasonable person and not a raging racist...

I don't know whether this point has been made yet (can't be ar$ed to read through the daft arguments) but it's a chant based on a factually accurate and - at least in western society - positive stereotype. There's no prejudice or malice in the people who's chanting it and therefore it's not discriminatory. It's most certainly profiling but stretching the concept of racism to cover instances such as this just devalues the currency of that word (which along with terms like 'fascist' seems to have happened quite a bit in the past few years).

If it makes Bambo uncomfortable hearing that being chanted or the club wants to promote the more family friendly aspects of the club and would like the fans to stop chanting that, that's fine. All power to them. However, deeming this to be a racist incident is wrong and - at least in my opinion - unhealthy.

In agreement Jamdrop. I’m 62 and to my knowledge never made racist remarks to anyone intentionally. Have I ever made unintentional remarks that might offend. Absolutely. I have curbed my industrial language in front of my Grandchildren far more than I ever did with my own kids. Yes maybe I should cut it out altogether but when at work it becomes natural so to speak. (Doesn’t make it right b4 anyone dares suggest) Re my first statement. I was in crystal peaks and one day granddaughter ran off and I shouted at her come back here yer little monkey. I looked up and a coloured gentleman was in close proximity looked at me. And first thing I thought of was how monkey is used in racial terms. And praying that said gentleman did not take the use of the word as a ugly remark. I’m 99 percent convinced he didn’t. But still felt uncomfortable that he might have. It’s difficult not to offend anyone in earshot if using a term that’s offensive to them but banter between mates. Or an innocent remark totally misinterpreted. To me a racist is one who I’ve said before is in general someone of race who thinks they’re superior to another race. My Children have always been taught that no person of any race is superior to another. Something I’ve Always lived by. No doubt someone will attempt to knock holes in what I’ve said. But I’ve said it with an honest heart. “ Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. “ Although brought up in church till late teens. I’ve lost all faith in religion many moons ago. But Quite a lot of statements have meaning.
Edit. Where the hell do we go from here. I’ve just looked up on the word coloured. and used it because I thought it was the right word to use. (I decided not to alter it to show the point in mind.) This is now deemed offensive. But in my research found that whatever word is adopted it invariably becomes outlawed over time. As was the word Black in certain phrases. But now Black is back in and is not offensive. ( also quite clearly stated Black Asian can be offensive to certain groups) If indeed anyone uses a word that I’ve said before is said with no other connotations in mind. But actually said to respect. Surely that person cannot be accused of racism.

I recommend you do, cos you're another one that just doesn't get it.

Although, if you don't get it by now then you probably never will.

Okay, I’ve had a quick flick through and I can’t see anything on the points I’ve mentioned there. Could you explain why I don’t get it?

Sigh... It's racist, it perpetuates a racial stereotype, the club have asked the crowd to stop singing it, Kick It Out are involved and it looks bad for a club that is trying to raise its profile. The end.
