    Why is that? Too outspoken? Too local? Too loyal?

    Is it because i once had a game of halves with him on Mitchells field at Wombwell and he nearly took my head off?

    There’s probably legal and contractual reasons why the statement only says what it does.

    Seems to me it’s just been published just to confirm to the fans that the rumours are true.

    I’d expect a further statement will follow - although why the original statement doesn’t say all of what I’ve typed above is beyond me......

    I’ve commented before about how petty and pathetic some of the statements have been when a player had moved on but that’s the worst I’ve seen by a country mile. Imagine having to work with the person who would write something like that.

    Yes they could have and probably will.
    But like I said it’s a standard practice holding statement.
    There are often implications to reasons why companies can’t do this initially.
