I think the walkway was always in the statement re the ticket swap section. It was when I read it last night I am almost sure. I understood the car park was closed so when I saw the Barry Murphy stand was accessed via a designated walkway I assumed that would be along the back of the north stand from the west side. My access requirements are for the West stand and I need to get there via the east stand because I travel on foot over the DVP from Monk Bretton. Anyway I m going to risk going that way on the assumption that I can access the west stand that way.
Been down at Oakwell about half an hour. Had a walk round and chatted to a few people to see how things are going. Around half of the ticket holders have already moved seats and claimed replacements. I honestly think up to 750 will take the night off/claim a refund. Should mean that by 6:45pm for that last hour there's anywhere from 600-1,000 outstanding and a manageable situation with the setup. Live band playing at 7:15pm. Lots of smiles and happy faces. Tea and coffee station. Positive vibes.
The club has done a great job on the communication front and so I don’t think there’ll be many people who it will be a surprise for when they arrive. Hopefully it will only be those that haven’t been able to get down earlier who will be left to swap and the numbers will be more manageable.
Yes, and they painted the entire East Stand roof metalwork the other year using one. Just got to protect the pitch properly when it goes on it. But I ‘think’ the issue may be the cladding to the upper rear of the stand, not the roof. So the danger is simply of it falling straight down behind the stand onto queues and car park. But that’s only a guess due to what I saw tonight. I don’t believe it is an actual danger to the inside of the ground.
