The reality of the situation is that stewards clearly aren’t up to it, I think that’s the point he was making. There were people sat drinking beers in the east stand upper last season, stewards could see it and did nothing. If they can’t even “police” the east stand upper they’ve got no chance in the zoo behind the goal. But then as you say it’s up to the club to rectify it-these fans take one look at the kids in bibs and realise they can do what the fk they like. It’s only going to get worse, they may have solved the post-covid staffing issues on the surface but it’s a dangerous game they’re playing imho.

We DO pay a decent rate. It's higher than a lot of clubs actually. The stewards near me certainly don't look like young kids either. Perhaps the issue is that the club are deploying the bigger looking stewards in the wrong areas.

 

I've stewarded at Manchester United, when we were posted to weeton barracks in Blackpool we used to go regular, transport laid on, good pay, various positions around the ground, obviously the longer you were there the more lucrative the spot, when i started i was sat behind the goal at west stand, thousands of photos of me an mi fat head in circulation. After a while i was put into Q,R,F, Quick reaction force, there were a dozen of us, handy lads an a couple of lasses, any trouble we were sent, usually some arsewipe that would'nt sit darn, great times saw some brilliant games an all for nowt, if you can serve the club an wan a bit of extra cash, or just wanna watch Barnsley for nowt, get yasen forward.C,O,Y,R,
