I agree with this and would add that, in my opinion, when he talks football he actually knows what he's talking about. And without needing to say so he was able to convey exactly what he thought about the ousted directors. I don't think anybody in that room believes he's their puppet.
and that’s assuming £6m of reductions from the current year. I’m sure Neerav is a nice bloke but they aren’t putting £1m out of kindness, it’s an absolute necessity to keep the club going.
I've watched bits of the stream but not most of it so forgive me asking - what did he say to indicate that?
I agree they're doing well and the only reason for our relegation is sheer incompetence. However, without huge amounts of cash clubs like us and Luton, however well managed, are going to hit a bad spell at some point that richer clubs can buy their way out of. Burnley have been touted as being well run and a model for us to follow and they've had a great run but again, it was inevitable the odds would catch up with them.
There was an agreement that someone say this. At the time BFC could afford the 750k and they paid that payment. He wouldn't talk about the court cases whenever that may be so it's hard to get an understanding on this rest but he said it was an understanding from both sides when Patrick Cryne didn't take out the 6 million pound.
Burnley were actually ok until they coincidentally sold there club to an American consortium. Who used loans to fund the takeover. Now with dropping out the prem they are in proper 5'hit street, with loan payments due of a eye watering 65 million.
I still feel as apathetic as I did. Initially, i was encouraged that Neerav has come forward - I do think it’s a positive step. I was expecting much more by way of reassurance not just last night but over the past couple of weeks. I just don’t feel inspired to renew at all.
Yes. That’s me too. I’ve been sitting on my hands waiting for some sort of break with the past and a clear way forward. Unfortunately he provided neither. Apathy is happy that it won without a fight.
If the overseas investors think they'll make much money out of Barnsley FC without making a large investment into the club first then I think they will be very disappointed. The only way they would be able to make alot of money on the club would be to sell it as an established Premier League club which would take a massive cash injection to achieve, they may be able to sell it for a modest profit if they could achieve established championship status with the chance of a PL push every now and again but even that would need investment but on a smaller scale first. If they want to accumulate first they will have to speculate if not they will be left with a stagnating investment at best and at worst a falling one. You simply cannot make money out of a football club without investing in it first.
ITs about supporting the team. Through good and bad. At times last year was very tough. For me around November/ December I was just angry with it all. Getting to Oakwell last night and pulling the curtain back to see the pitch, the West stand and the seat where I sit makes me genuinely smile. At the break I was just looking out onto grass. Confidence, Fitness improvement. We will be fine. I'd expect sales. He did mention those with 1 year left on a contract which isn't many (Woodrow and helik) and the rest would need to be big offers for them to consider selling them unless they can see an improvement on the player they can bring into the player they sell.
Im on this page. I think its great that there has been a shift in boardroom control, can only be positive. But is it enough. I feel that the last 3-4 years have been hard. After full commitment from me for years and years as a regular and mostly a ST holder, this gradually wained last few years and a genuine feeling that my financial commitment hasn't been channeled to make the game day better, develop the infrastructure and importantly execute an on field plan successfully. I almost feel it will take another 3 years to see if these things significantly improve before I return as a ST holder. Im not talking about winning cups and promotion etc, but the whole package as a club.
I didn't hear anything last night that suggests success is round the next corner. It sounded like a difficult two seasons ahead at least. That said, short of pouring millions into the club it seems to me that's where we are. What I am encouraged by is that the Crynes, in tandem with Parekh who seems to have become a fan rather than an investor are calling the shots and that we have people in charge who have the best interests of the club at heart rather than any future profit. For me that's a significant step forward.
I’m not sure. I heard yesterday that Warnock is one of the 5. Ordinarily I’d not be so keen but it’s imperative we don’t drop again. He’d bang some heads together, and stop the sulking. McCarthy would too. I don’t really know what will change my mind - i just want to see assurances about how the club will operate, and what the plan for player recruitment/ sales etc is. i expected a full on “courtship” of the doubters like me. I feel there has been very little done.
I'm not sure there's a lot they can say at the minute Fi and he seemed to acknowledge that last night. He said judge as by our actions. That's all we can do I guess. Unfortunately it's not something a magic wand can fix in an instant. I wish it could though.
The day to day running of the club is still an area that requires improvement. I expect to see a vast improvement from the CEO and his team this season. Conway can't be used as an excuse now can he.
I understand that, but I need to make a decision in the next few days, and I’m yet to see anything to change my mind. I won’t pay more than the early bird price, so once that’s gone, I’m out.
Yep, they're in a cleft stick. I'd like to see them extend the early bird for another month. They'd get more money in from that than waverers missing the boat and being faced with on the gate prices of well over 20 quid for the worst seats in the ground. A lot of people won't pay that especially if we have an average to poor season next year. Keep hold of your season ticket holders at all costs. People can soon find alternative things to do on a Saturday once the habit is broken.
Ok .. we'll send Warnock round with a bunch of flowers and two tickets for the pictures.. Three if hubby's going to gooseberry..
