As I see it, it is the responsibility of clubs to try & keep their players as safe as possible at the moment, given the omicron surge. From what @YTBFC has said we are keeping player bubbles. I'm not totally sure how that works on the field of play or training pitch, but I guess being outside the risk is less. I'm all for teams having to play their under 23s / 18s if needs be. If we are not careful we are going to have a stupid fixture pile up, which is going to mean teams playing 3 games a week, which would be more of a lottery than teams having to play a weakened team for 1/2 games. It also puts out paying fans big time, who may have organised travel / time off work. @YTBFC hope you are not too ill. I had covid symptoms that ended up as chronic bronchitis, but that was delta, I'm guessing you are omicron. Whatever, it's no fun.
Bit daft of them, if you ask me. Their kids could probably beat us at a canter right now, whereas we might have grown a pair by the time of the rearranged game and could nick summat.
We always knew they were a bit Scabby in Nottingham, didn't we? Makes a change for them to go on strike though..........
If fixtures pile up as you suggest, then they need to bring back the 5 Substitutes rule. At least temporarily.
There should have been an impromptu winter break for 3 or 4 weeks and the season extended, as soon as Omicron started to hit. Every club would then have been in the same boat. Big fixture backlogs for some and not others + some games going ahead with one team weakened more than the other, damages the integrity of the competition and will skew outcomes.
I've not left the house (other than to walk the dog) between Christmas Day and today, except to attend the Blackburn Rovers match. I can only assume I picked it up there, despite wearing a mask throughout. It's taken nearly two years, hundreds of daily tests and being jabbed three times to finally get me.
Can you imagine the reaction if it had been Barnsley who called the game. The BBS conspiracy theorists would have been in meltdown. For what its worth we're in a pandemic with loads of games getting called off day by day.its what it is.
So why do they wait until the day before, to cancel the fixture? Scared of playing TeamsLikeBarnsley.......
I would have thought that we needed as much spare time as possible in order to get our act together, hopefully with acquisitions to strengthen us as well. I cannot see one advantage in playing any other team unless we have to, at the moment.
