I really dont see what all the fuss is about! Walton must have instigated this move - so we get a fee (however small) and we get a 3rd choice keeper till the end of the season on lower wages than Walton was on! I would assume this will be used as an extended trial and then decisions can be made at the end of the season.
....Well there’s folk on here questioning recruitment because we’ve flogged him!.....too much fuss for me , obviously it not for you old pal!
Looks as though the Walton rumour has some truth in it, but why swap one goalie for another if Walton goes to Luton Town? Isted did really well when he came on as substitute for Luton in their cup tie with West Ham last season. Sorry - only just spotted the story about Walton actually leaving.
Apparently he/Isted likes flatbreads and rubbishy alcohol free lager, so Khaledo just couldn't say no!.
Sorry! It was Luton Town v Chelsea and Isted came on in the 14th minute to replace Ged Steer. Played well in that game.
There's some quite strange reactions to this one. We let a keeper leave, we've brought one in immediately to replace him. It's a loan, which in presuming isn't costing us much, it gives us the chance to look at Isted who I'm sure will be considering hsi future in the summer, and we don't have to mess about trying to bring someone else in. If we get to our limit of loanees in the match day squad, we'll leave someone out. Watters will be in the squad over Tedic, Luke Thomas over Josh Martin when he's back fit, and I'm sure if it comes to it, Searle over Isted. Luton's fans seem a little disappointed that Isted's future seems to lie elsewhere, and Walton has come under criticism here pretty much constantly since he first broke into the side 5ish years ago. Nobody batted an eyelid at Searle being third choice behind Walton and Collins, but now it's a travesty for some reason.
He signed for Luton in 2017 and only played half a dozen games in over half a decade. Not sure bringing him on loan is the answer unless Collins leaves today.
Sounds like the ideal inexpensive backup for Collins to me. It's just to tie us over until the summer. We've probably identified a long term target who's out of contract in the summer. Or a list of them in fact.
I'm not necessarily complaining about it, but I find the Isted loan signing a peculiar one, given we have 5 loans in already plus likely looking at options for a midfielder and we signed Searle in the summer, presumably with an idea of him pushing up into the first team squad. It means Duff will be having to juggle things around when selecting his matchday squad, and Isted might find himself not even making the bench most weeks, which makes it a strange choice for him. Of course, there's still a day left where deals could happen to make this make more sense. One or two players could return to their parent clubs, or Collings or Searle could leave. But as it stands, it's a bit of a headscratcher.
