nothing would make him happy. Him and his tinpotter mates constantly bleat about no ambition, havibg our pants down etc. As soon as it seems we turn down a big sum for one of our players they conveniently ignore that and moan about an incoming player instead. It's beyond pathetic.

This summer we’ve signed a good keeper on loan, signed two top quality league one midfielders to new contracts, turned down an offer for Jalo. The only players who left were inevitable (perhaps excluding Norwood depending on who you believe). We’ve got the best centre back in the league, Lopata who looks decent de givegney who will probably be okay in the long run. and others to come in who have played at a level above like cundy.

I just don’t understand the expectation levels of some people.

Crazy to turn down 4m for kitch. I’d sell him and sort out
My expectations this year are is to achieve promotion.

    My hope is that too.
I’m not sure how selling kitch would help with that though.

I'll be very disappointed indeed if a centre-back whom Rotherham don't want is a replacement for Kitching.

Not saying I agree with all what Donny says but the club themselves are saying promotion is the aim so it's not unrealistic for fans to want the same when the club and players mention it all summer.

How’s having expectations of promotion a problem, considering we came so close last season?

There's a difference though. I fully expect the aim to be promotion. But I don't expect that the aim will necessarily turn into reality. We've already mentioned the number of big clubs that have taken years to get out of thi s league. Bigger than us. Unfortunately there are some on here that will not countenance the possibility that every season can't be a success. Anything and everything is criticised and used to bash the club if things don't go the way they want.

Why all this dissing of Rotherham and their players? Like it or not they're a Championship club and we're not.

i hope we can challenge. I think we've got a pretty good chance of challenging. Some expect nothing less than promotion and that's just stupid and unrealistic.
I'll be disappointed if we don't go up. Some will be looking for places to lay vitriol, criticism and blame.

This is the weakest league one ever.

There's Derby who can spend huge and that's it. One club.

And even Derby aren't that convincing, in my opinion.

Think about next year in league 1... Sheff wed? Wrexham? Rotherham? Stockport?

It could get much tougher I'm afraid

Some of the comments in this thread are quite frankly, embarrassing.

That's enough Internet for one night I think.

If the club say it then they should give us a chance of achieving it though.

If they haven't got the funds to compete with the Derby's etc. Then don't bang on about going for promotion again. Then just causes annoyance amongst some fans.

I don't think we will go up either but I can see why some will get angry about things given that's the narrative the club has given.

Spot on that. If we don't at least make the play offs, we need a new head coach.

Ipswich, Sheff Wed and Derby had by far the largest transfer & wage budgets

2 of the 3 have left

Replaced by Blackpool- a club exactly like us

And two clubs that have already incurred a points deduction in August because they are such basketcases

In other league 1 years there have been teams like... Sunderland, Sheff Utd, Norwich, Leeds, Wolves

The same folk that will have called us tinpot for signing Kitching from Forest Green Rovers in the first place. At least it's consistent.
