This is now THE best Thursday 8th October 2020 signing window EVER.

Well done. I'm pleased he's signed. Him and Styles link up well. As long as we can sign another midfielder or two I think him and Styles are two to build the team around.

I agree, however the problem is the signing 2 new players part. I think now we need experience in the middle of the park to nurture the likes of Jordan, Callum, Elliot and Clarke. Similarly to Solly coming into the defence. The problem is we are highly unlikely to get the experience.

There’s loads of players out of work who fit the experienced midfielder bill. You’d think they’d rather be playing for £3/4K a week on a 12 month contract rather than doing nothing?

You'd have thought so, but either we aren't looking at players over 28 (ish), aren't offering those wages or they don't want to come to play for Barnsley. Which one is it?

Problem is, Dane considers Mowatt to be a veteran.

To be fair with over 200 games and 7 years, mostly in Championship he should be classed as experienced.

    Happy for him.

I said a while back that he’s probably one of the only players who could stay with us a long time as he’s decent but not good enough to get big interest from elsewhere & he’s way too good for us to ever release him

Respectfully disagree. Think he's got the potential to have a very career at Championship level.

Fair enough, I do think he would be a great understudy to a more senior championship fullback. I think we are maybe asking too much of him at this moment in time to be the main fullback at the club.

Great news - Improving player, if he keeps going he'll be absolute quality, can play in a few positions - looks fine in a back 3 and full back. Think he'll be first name on the teamsheet these days.

Agree he's not the finished article. But I think he's already got enough about him to be given the place in the first team and for us not to worry about his relative inexperience leading to serious errors. He's at an age where he's only going to continue improving for at least the next 2-3 years (hopefully!)
