If he can’t score regularly at that level then his chances of making it at Barnsley should lessen. (I’ll caveat that - just rewriting your post to make a point - he doesn’t necessarily have to be a huge success at that level to have any chance, plenty have gone before him and not done so great, and still been ok - but he does need the games, going there is a good thing for him). We all love a homegrown kid coming through and I’d love Marshy to be a success - but he has to be good enough.

The transfer window restriction does not apply to clubs in or below the National League division.
Very true, but can't imagine we'll be bringing in loans from that level (which was what my response was in regards to)
The transfer window restriction does not apply to clubs in or below the National League division.
We can loan to non league and below but it doesn't apply the other way. Only options available to are out of contract/freebies
I was really surprised when I heard this news but reflecting on it I wonder if Jalo will now get regular bench time & the opportunities that bring towards his development ,but if we are looking to bring an out of contract player into the fold then that may bring fitness issues, if a player comes in then he will have had pre season or regular daily training & obviously no game time what so ever & therefore the thinking might be to lay the seeds for january when we can bring players in again , who knows, we will see .
Good luck to the lad it will certainly toughen him up. The national league is full of head it kick it big lumps at centre half.
I was going to put some money forward but when I saw the vote was for him I didn't see the point, thought it was a strange decision at the time.
Good decision. Will toughen him up physically & mentally at this crucial stage of his development. He’s definitely a talent. Jalo needs to carry on doing what he’s doing in the youth setup & u23’s, then a loan might be a good idea for him next season.
I don't get this at all. Against Lincoln he was head and shoulders above anyone else in a red shirt. Got more ability and desire in his little finger than some other senior pros at Oakwell have in their entire body. I suspect had we bought him instead of bringing him through the academy he'd have still been here and if Norwood or cole were academy lads they would have been shipped out. It seems to be something we've always done with strikers. Send ours out because we need to make room for failed signings.
Who in recent times has come through our academy as a striker and looked anywhere near ready for league and at times championship football though? Rhys Oates, Danny Rose? I'm not saying you're wrong about some of our recent former strikers being gutless though, I just don't think we've ever really produced anything close to being in the first team striker wise, we seem to do okay defensively, and have put out a few league one, league two level midfielders. I actually think this will be a good move for him, down in the doldrums at Scunthorpe, lets see how he reacts. He'll get knocked about a lot, hopefully wises up to it through experience and endeavour the more he plays, and it will definitely be a slug fight down there. Consistent game time and hopefully a few goals will do him the world of good. Not sure if we are bringing in someone on a free (hope so), or we expect Jalo to take up a role on the bench and in the first team when needed, but if we are, it's a lot of pressure for someone who I assume has only recently finished his GCESE's? Looks a quality player for his age though
