You're either stupid, trolling or both.

For a minute there I thought Danny had listened to me when I said my Nana was a better footballer than Dawson...

Let's say Ben and Danny take heed of your post and splash all the season ticket money on 5/6 signings tomorrow. What happens if we lose Steele, Cranie and Jennings within a week of start of the season. Surely we'll have to start all over again.

You simply cannot set deadlines on signing players, it's unrealistic. Danny will have his targets and he'll be waiting until he knows when they are available, or when he knows what his budget is, or when the players are back from holiday, or when the other managers are back from holiday, or when he knows that he needs a goalkeeper after all....you get my point, there are too many variables to set an arbitrary deadline.

Because every season we make the same mistakes, sign players up on one year deals then next season we're starting all over again never having a settled squad, and always going into the new season unprepared, and still looking for players instead of having a settled squad, this season it seemed as though penny had finally dropped getting our budget sorted early, but no same old same old sitting on it trying to scrimp and scrape yet again.

Apart from last year when we signed 'em all on 2 year deals and still went down with the most settled squad we've had in years?

First of all we'll lose no one in first week of season if we grow some ****** and say no your staying you signed the deal that's it, and the second point is if we do it right this year and sign players on longer then one year then we'll not have all this next season we'll have a squad already but we're fecking about penny pinching and not thinking about what we're doing because all the club cares about is money and the saving of it but it's costing the club more money in the long run

Keeping a laiker who wants away from the club is not my idea of a successful, winning formula.

As for your second point, we did (last Summer) sign players on longer deals than just one year. Steele, Cranie, Nyatanga, M'Voto, Kennedy and COG. All signed two year deals. Jennings on a three year contract. We gave Digby four years. The only ones I can think of who got just a 12 month deal last Summer were Hassell, McNulty, Scotland and McCourt. They hardly featured last season when taken as a collective, and were released before their contracts were up.

Penny pinching? We've just been relegated. We're likely to lose around £4m over the next year because of that. Of course, we could flog a few laikers who make a dent in that figure, we could top the table all season, reach Wembley in the JPT, have long runs in both the League and FA Cups, get bigger gates than usual. All that might be unlikely, but in ******* May, all is possible. And so we might not lose a penny in reality. But the club has to prepare for any worst case scenario when deciding upon its budgets for any season. So aye, they're probably penny pinching at the moment. But unless it's confirmed that we're in financial trouble, I think you ought to hold your horses a wee while and wait and see.

If we end up losing our 'so called' better players for peanuts again, then that's a different debate.

But getting onto the club for not signing myriad players in ******* May, well, I can't see the merits in that.

Dawson job tom pole all offered contracts at end of season, why not in January when we could push them into making their mind up and signing like other clubs do, then we'd have the core of the squad now, everything's backwards and too slow we know who we want go get um instead of fecking about the players you mentioned who have years left why ant we made them offers this month ? And if they refuse get shut now get things in order now not next summer

We had a pretty decent squad (so we thought) when the squad went on their training camp. Then Flitcroft added ridiculous amounts of signings bloating the squad to around 35 before supplementing with a few more loans.

Can you tell me how many signed up players each club in League 1 has and what new signings each of these clubs have made?

Because as much as I like Jim O'Brien (and I really do), neither he, Dawson or Cywka are much cop if we're being honest. And were we to have stayed up, I'm not sure Danny would have wanted them in the second tier. As it is, we went down and Danny feels they were worth a contract in the third tier. Perhaps on reduced money. If they've all turned them down, good riddance. I only want laikers here who want to laik for this club. For whatever reasons they might have.

I get the impression that we've had a lot of players at Oakwell in the last year especially who didn't really give a toss about the club, especially once their mate had been sent back to Greater Manchester.

And no, I'd rather we didn't offer our contracted players extensions right now.

But your opinion is as good as mine, mate.

    Steele
    Cranie M'Voto Nyatanga Kennedy
    Jennings Digby Mellis Noble-Lazarus
    O'Grady Rose

Dibble, Cowgill, Bree, Abbott, Smith, Maris, Nana, Oates.

I've probably missed one or two as well.

We're hardly as weak as you like to think we are. Not saying all of those will remain at BFC before August, but add 5/6/7 players to that lot and we ought to be competitive. Plus a loanee or two. But sign em all in ******* May? Aye, oreight.

So you can't then. Thought not.

So you'd like us to have re-signed all the players that got us relegated, largely went through the motions and had limited quality just for the sake of volume?

Your logic is all over the place.

What exactly could we do contract wise when we were in the bottom 3 and looking certain for relegation? Offer them more money? Hardly. What was in it for the player to extend in January rather than wait till the close season to weigh up their options? Absolutely nothing.

I know absolutely **** all about football management but at least I have common sense!

I like a good old moan as much as the next bloke Homer, pal. But mine are usually with some kind of justification behind em. I just feel sorry for Nana. He'll have logged onto the BBS and seen a great big thread about him, only to find that nobody is talking about him.

I think we should panic and buy a load of **** now, spending all our budget in the process. Then later in the summer when better players start getting snapped up by lesser teams in the league. We can all moan that we purchased a load of ***** too early.
