"We have to take on the chin that we weren't good enough for large parts of the game today."
Or many of the other games this season.

We're third top scorers in the division.
We've conceded the same number of goals as Cheltenham, who are about to be relegated, and 3 MORE than Cambridge in 19th place.
We're coached by an experienced Championship level centre-back.
    Go figure.

I would say I’ve probably been a fan of Collins more than most it seems and it also seems I’m still cutting him a bit more slack than the majority (although that is wearing thin right now) but his interviews are so deluded it’s unreal.

Always mentioning the chances we’ve missed yet completely disregarding the countless chances the opposition are getting. Mentioning referee decisions when, again, forgetting decisions that go for us. The worst is when he makes out we’ve done well when we can all see that wasn’t the case.

I imagine he will still be here next season so let’s hope we can shore up the defence dramatically and quickly. If not, the pressure will be on him before August is over.

If he is the fans will be chanting sack the board all season. They think it's toxic now? Well get ready

This sits at the heart of things for me. Just how distant he seems, from the version of things I'm seeing. That's often the point when confidence starts to drain for me. I can't imagine many of the Board are watching the same games as us, then find themselves agreeing with what they hear from Collins post-match. If he came out and said "that was awful, this isn't good enough" then I think he would give himself so much more breathing space. But he doesn't, which leads me think one of two things: he's either trying to pull the wool, or genuinely believes what he's saying, in which case he's simply not up to the job for me.

I also feel that there is no connection between the manager/head coach and the supporters at all.

No mutual respect or what respect there may have been has evaporated.

Part of me thinks get rid of him sooner rather than later but a bigger part of me doesn't trust the board to make anything other than another left field random appointment to replace him.
The next appointment has got to be a sound one; we are no longer in a position to gamble.

Duff was a breath of fresh air after the daft appointments of Schopp and Asbaghi. What he’d done at Cheltenham and the fact that he knew the lower leagues just made you think he’d be a good fit. Why we moved away from someone with similar pedigree to bring in Collins from the Disney league just beggars belief.

I get what you mean but there was some logic to it, and 33 games in it looked like a good appointment. Unfortunately the wheels have utterly fallen off since then.

Will be interesting to see what’s next for him he does get the chop. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him head straight back to America.

It didn't though. The football was dreadful all season. It was clear that Collins was a n awful manager right from the beginning and the people who were defending him and saying it was working were looking purely at the results and completely ignoring how bad the opposition had been and how lucky we had been that half of them couldn't hit a barn door

Agreed. Fans will get vocal very quickly towards the board, coaches and players.

Agree. Out of the 2, I’d hope it’s him trying to pull the wool because even as a Barnsley supporter and probably a happy clapper, I can see and say when we haven’t been good enough.

I suppose it could be to save himself and the players from criticism but when we are all watching the games and not seeing it how he’s describing it in his post match interviews, it just comes across a bit daft in my opinion.

I say 'good appointment' because at that point we had autos in our grasp with 13 games to play. I think the vast majority of people would agree that any manager who finishes top two, is a good appointment.

If he’s here past tea time next Saturday there’ll be anarchy!
The only reason he stays is if we get promoted.
