What a piss poor aerial photo of Oakwell on the BFC website link.

Global maybe but either show the ground full (Photoshop !) or completely empty.
Having about three dozen people there does not convey the right image to multi-national companies.

Whilst understanding the business logic I hope as a community club we did explore all local options before going with the faceless multinational. I've pretty much stopped drinking in e ground these days as I'm always chuffing freezing but hoping that I will still be able to attack the Acorn on my occasional visits to Refearns.

Local cask and craft is on trend and popularity is growing. But it still accounts for a very small proportion of the beer market. Lager is still accounts for the biggest volumes area in the market place.

It would be nice to support local but it would cost the club to do so. Apart from brand range and any finacial incentives offered to club as part of the deal. The brewery will install bar and cellar equipment (covering installation costs) and provide cellar maintance. This is huge cost and something small and local outfits do not offer (install maybe but not maintenance). Having the backing of a brewer is essential. I'd rather we spent money on players and leave it to the proffessionals. A good business decision IMHO.

And IMHO I would rather have Carling & Coors Light, than Foster's or Carlsberg any day of the week.

    Agree.

I don't touch "real ale" it all taste the same to me too. All yeast.

I'd much rather have a pint of "piss" as it keeps being referred to.

I appreciate their is an army of folk who like the craft stuff. But I don't. And so do hundreds of others who frequent oakwell.

I hardly ever drink in the ground either and I don't think this will do much to change my habits. Fair play to Ben for doing the deal though.

If it means actual draught fonts, in working order, looking smart and serving quicker, then I guess it has to be a good thing

It's only a good business decision if Molson Coors have stumped up a good sum of money.. I'd be surprised if it's enough to make an impact on the first team squad . As to kicking Acorn out,if that's the case, it's quite pathetic, I would have thought any mature company could recognise that Acorns market is a small niche that doesn't impact on their sales,as a few here have suggested those who are seeking quality traditional beer generally will not suddenly switch to multi national
    Keg offerings.

The muntinational will install and maintain the kit. If Coors hadn't done the deal, Carlsberg or Heineken would have stepped in. Ben Manford is the man to speak to on this matter and supporting local. Hoping Acorn will still be available in Redfearns bar.

I'd be pretty surprised, and very disappointed, if Redfearn's were prevented from selling Acorn. I'm not expecting that to happen.

Fonts look great to be fair. It'll be alright - they've gotta increase the number of drinkers however based on what I've seen - it's a decent offering (excluding the cask) so they should.
