In L1 not so worrying because for bigger clubs to swoop in for someone suggests that they or the team has performed excellent all season. Either that or we are in L2... But then with the chance of Championship football if we do bounce back, it would be good to cut their teeth with us, even if for 1 season.
When you spend the last few quid you have in the bank to assemble a squad that can win 30 points in 46 matches, it does leave a fair old rebuilding job.
It does seem as though it is a deliberate change of direction with the new board. We have pivoted from 3 and 4 year deals, with an additional year in our favor, to 2 year deals and 1 year extensions. Both strategies have their problems, depending on whether a player is good or bad. Roll of the dice really.
This thing with contracts. It's not a one way street as some appear to think. Players may go elsewhere if a club doesn't accept their conditions. Bit of a do we sign em or risk going to a 2nd or 3rd chioce. ( as has happened more than once) or even no cover.
