We’ll only know in time I trust the club. Go and have a look at Woodrow and Morris’s records before signing for us.
https://standard.be/nl/news/obbi-oulare-naar-barnsley Announcing his departure gets three sentences. I don't believe they wish him well with an article like that. Probably some bad blood.
My main Obbi is cycling, I cycled 43 miles today then went to the pub and had 4 pints of Bass. Accept my apologies if some of my posts are not completely coherent.
My only reservation is he doesn’t play like a target man,he like a bigger version of Cole ,have we got the midfield passing to set him through on goal,he not a hold up player
He has now a great opportunity to produce on a regular basis at the top end of the Championship. Could be a great move for both him and Barnsley FC. Really wish him all the best
He might be brilliant, he might be utter crap. He might be made of concrete or he might be made of glass. At the moment I'm assuming he's a brilliant concrety sort of player.
i think the question should be ‘how do we know if he will be any good FOR US’. The answer is we don’t. The same answer as any signing. What we will have done is evaluate the same way but maybe less data. I would then expect the deal to manage the risk and the coaches to manage the reward. Reading that the deal is based on performance then it looks like thats what we have done. Now its over to the coaches to make it work and he himself to show up what he can do.
A year ago, we made the underwhelming signing of Callum ‘can’t nail down a place at MK Dons’ Brittain. Later in the season came Carlton ‘not good enough for Norwich’ Morris. And, of course Darryl ‘never heard of him’ Dike. That’s just three recent signings that made me finally realise that we don’t just snap up a player because they’re cheap and available. Obbi will have been watched and scouted and studied and approved by our new head coach that he can play a part in his style of play. Some gambles clearly don’t pay off but we’ve unearthed too many gems for me to write a player off just because a 14 year old boy, on Twitter, in Belgium called him crap once.
Great post. Couldn't agree more. We are never going to get every single signing correct, but the club seem really happy to have secured this lads signature and we've clearly been chasing him for some time. That's good enough for me and I'll make my mind up about him when I see him in a reds shirt over the course of several games.
