Hope he does well. Big lad, different to our current options. I think the “not a marquee signing” stuff probably came as a reaction to the complaining already going on on here and elsewhere about Tedic. Not sure why they felt the need to respond to that though. This does throw into focus how useful Adeboyejo would’ve been - we can consider this his replacement
Just listening to ifollow. Duff states "He's young, He's raw. He's not coming in to be our starting number 9. But if he comes in and hits the ground running then theres that opportunity for him"
I’m happy with this signing, but I can’t get excited about it from that announcement. Hope he plays better than his billing.
Imagine if the club had come out and said: He’s from Man City, we’re expecting big things, and then he took 6 games to get a start… we’d have another 20 page thread on here.
Just finished listening to his interview on ifollow. Seems pretty shy and his english is quite broken, so it may take a bit of time just to get him settled into his new environment. I'm not expecting to see a great deal of him in the first team unless we get lots of injuries or just get desperate. Given Duff wants at least one more forward and ideally 2, it seems very much a favour and a punt.
If Man city bought him for £3M and we havent sold a striker for £3M since Ashley Ward then I think he may do ok in league 1. I think its a chance worth taking and certainly doesnt weaken our team. Im happy with it , you never know. To be bought for that amount you cant be useless and Im sure if we made an offer to buy him we couldnt afford him or his wages so a loan has to be good for us and him.
