He wasn't very animated, but it is only pre-season. I thought he was very fair in his coverage, and quite amusing when trying to decipher our team members.
We used to call it a 'Savo' at school. Didn't really follow football back then, but I suppose there was a Milosevic miss when he played for Villa that was burned into the minds of the 10 year olds who saw it...
I was 12 when I did it. Could have left the cross as it was going in anyway, but like all good strikers I went to Welly it into the back of the net with a gutteral "get the heck in" and shinned it over from a foot. Both teams and ref were already jogging back. I'd have got away with it if it weren't for their keeper and their staff literally peeing themselves. Like you I have never forgot and dream about it regularly.
I missed one like that on dinner break at High School. We had some concrete tennis courts with high netting round them . Nobody ever used them so on dinner we played football in them. The highest net backed onto Larks Hill. The ball bobbled towards the goal and I thought I'd poach someone else's goal. My winklepicker caught it all wrong and I sent it over the netting into the gardens behind from less than a yard.
I missed a penalty playing in a 7-a-side competition at Junior School. When I think about it, which I do, daily, I still want to cry. That was in 1981. Like you said, he'll get over it eventually.
Dull second half but our youngsters competed well against a strong hull team. Jalo excellent effort. Marsh looks to have bulked up a bit. Trialist in midfield did decent
He seemed quite relaxed on the comfy sub's bench. Maybe he and the coaches need to get together, and get some things sorted, and quickly!.
I was impressed with our second half performance, it felt more like our C team of trialists and U21’s up against a strong Hull team, but they put in a good defensive performance, just didn’t manage to make the ball stick when we played it up top. I found the shirt numbers very frustrating especially after half time. It was surely intentional that so many numbers were kept for different players in the second half and others had new numbers on that didn’t match current squad numbers, or at least that’s how it felt!
