Everybody knows the cup's been used all season to help develop some of the under 21s therefore I have absolutely no sympathy for anybody that turned up last night and I do not believe the club need to apologise to anybody. Maybe the people who went need to take some responsibility. Due to the fact it's been clear since start of season and they were still daft enough to turn up.
In the last game at Donny we played Jalo from the start and Bruce's lad came on for the last 15 minutes. Both players have a bit of presence and physicality. I'm not claiming Butterfill didn't deserve his chance yesterday, but it's a very hard ask when you're paired with another striker (Aitchison) who is also, well, small. Would have thought he would would have done better alongside one of the above. I would have liked to see the other Benson again too who I thought played very well at Donny. Not that the result matters like, but I did think the striker pairing made it unnecessarily difficult for ourselves.
Expected us to play some fringe players, no issues with that. I do have an issue with deliberately throwing the game, which is extremely morally questionable. I'm struggling to put any other interpretation on not throwing Cole on for the last ten and trying to equalise.
