Good lad who grew into the role he had. probably at the peak of his game at this level so onward and upward. gave us his best so all our best to him and his new career. will always be thowt of as a Red......
Quality from the lad. Tbf, I want Luton to do well anyway - even more so now. As for the hate part - it goes to show how much it does impact the young players. It wasn’t really his fault either - he was forced every time to collect the ball in the area. Everyone knew it wasn’t right, but Stendel never changed it.
Good luck with your new career Mads, you deserve the chance to play at the top level. Just a shame it's not with us. You are a credit to yourself, your family, and our great club. Once a Red Always a Red
Couldn't get through the whole thing, as I felt uncomfortable watching him struggle with his emotions. Huge credit to him for doing it though.
Possibly so, but part of why he's so popular now is that I can't recall anyone else overcoming such a poor start to their BFC playing career so spectacularly since Danny Wilson's playing days.
Poor lad ,imagine making him go through all that ,only got to the fans used to BOO me ,that turned out well then for the BOO boys ,think we got the message he upset to be going to big school ,he be ok when he gets there
A total role model who travelled to a foreign country, overcame adversity and went on to achieve his dream of the premier league. Good luck to you lad, forever a red.
That is THE most moving statement from a professional footballer I've ever seen in my life. From the minute that lad came into our club I've loved him. He had me at hello. His winning smile and his joy at being here said everything about him as a human being. He just seems like such a lovely bloke. He's also a terrific leader. We'll miss him. It's sad to hear him talk about the booing and the hate but it says so much about him that he got over that and fought and persevered to become the outstanding footballer that he is. Shame on all the people who did give him stick. You're an absolute legend Mads. It's been a real privilege watching you in the red. Good luck!!!
Are you joking? His name got booed when it was read out for about half a season. This board was filled with knobheads slating him after every game. Lots of “won a competition” type comments etc. - he stopped using social media because of it. I’d say i hope this is a lesson to not get on the back of young players but people are still gonna do it.
Could always stay if he wanted to. Understand the draw of the Premier League though, and wish him the best. I’ve always liked him as a player and as a personality. Did our fans really boo him? Seems to have left a mark.
Oh I can. Mads got it big time but he battled on. He was vilified on this forum also. As usual, it was the same morons who never give players time to settle in. The same people who show no patience with young players if they're having a bad spell. Fickle football fans. same the world over.
Yes they did. Embarrasingly so. Regularly. The pity is that it has left a mark and that he carries that memory of BFC fans with him
Lovely lad, excellent player for us and leaves with the best wishes of the majority of Reds supporters, he'll be missed. Edit; I never booed him, I've never booed a Barnsley player. Sure I've got annoyed at some and shouted something along the lines of "sort yourself out" or "get a grip" (possibly with one or two expletives added). When Mads played in the Championship he had his share of nightmare performances and I understand the anguish that can cause to die-hard committed fans. But booing our players? I just don't get it.
