Both teams will want it played - especially Barnsley who have a fair few Sat/Tuesday games already and will be keen to avoid that. The Plymouth team will have travelled today to stay somewhere local overnight so they’ll be nearby anyway. So it begs the question: What’s more important? The travelling fans, or getting the match played? If they were really that bothered about the Plymouth fans travelling unnecessarily then they’d call the game off tonight. There won’t be much difference tomorrow morning, If anything, it’ll be worse given the freezing forecast. With over 300 miles to travel their fans will need to leave ridiculously early to get here and will be keen to avoid turning around half way. The annoying factor with that is that by 3pm tomorrow it would probably be fine to play. Take fans out of the equation and the decision to postpone would only be made an hour or so before if the pitch needs inspecting.
deflection? goodness me!!! why find something negative when the club is doing all it can. conspiracy theorising at its most bizarre.
From a purely selfish point of view, IF the forecasts prove right I hope it's off. Whilst acknowledging the huge amount of work the club has done to the ground and its surroundings, the pavements of Mount Vernon Road, Sheffield Road, Waltham Street and probably Oakwell Lane will be sheets of glass. I aint chancing a broken leg at my time of life.
Understandable, but there will be thousands who it wouldn't be a problem for. Could you not be dropped off closer to the ground by anyone?
After 4 hours or so of temps above zero I don’t understand why the paths would be icy at all? I understand that the pitch may still be frozen (although leaving the snow on overnight may help against that) and I understand that Plymouth and our distant fans will have to be travelling in really icy conditions on the roads at silly o’clock (I’m led to believe their players are already here though) but I can’t see there being any ice in the surrounding area. There’ll be bits of snow in some areas for certain but it shouldn’t be icy at that time.
It’s not like some 15 year old delinquent (me back in the day) is going to be out pouring boiling water down the hill so it turns to black ice & makes a great ice rink to slide down! Them were the days! Although to neighbours didn’t enjoy it much especially when returning from a late shift!
