I'm glad you're part of the fan engagement group (and other groups) mate, you're a good advocate, and a good man.
I'm not one for saying people should or shouldn't go to a match. It's entirely their choice. However, leaving it to the last minute then complaining that the remaining available seats aren't good enough, seems odd. Absolutely no difference to the Wednesday match, which we sold out. This match is exponentially bigger, and it would be a huge shame if it didn't sell out.
Fantastic point mate. Some people I'd give grace to would be those that are counting the pennies as you yourself said so to speak and other commitments. Cos they may envisage the final and the cost of that will be astronomical for some folk. Transport and match tickets for a family of 4, would I reckon top £400. I posted in another thread where someone I spoke to criticised the attendance at the Peterborough game. Saying don't open the North stand for that reason. Wtf. He obviously doesn't realise a dead rubber game over a semi final game. and affordability to choose one or the other
Precisely this. I was going to wait to see the result of yesterdays game before committing to driving across on a Friday night, but changed my mind on Friday and got a ticket then. Would’ve been happy to sit in the west stand but got tickets for ESL instead. Ultimately, if we can’t sell 12000 tickets for this game, we can’t complain if and when players and coaches decide to move on to further their careers
Hey Whitey have we sold Bolton half the stand top to bottom or half the stand all across the top like we did for Peterborough? Just wondering if it's possible we could have home fans in the North stand next week.
Given the responses from Gally and myself. (We were at the same meeting as YTBFC) It is possible. Fact. I think you can make your mind up from that re the allocation. (Even though that point wasn't said specifically. ) all depends on our demand and how quick the other 3 parts of ground sells out. Then they will make a decision.
I’m guessing the club must be close to the point of having to make that decision, if the point hasn’t passed already as they’ll need to issue the Bolton fans’ tickets
Because they’re fickle, as you just said. I’m not saying people aren’t, I’m saying that they are and we need to bear that in mind.
Their problem not yours though. You aren't going to change their mind so why worry. Genuine question. I think I've explained it all to death tbh. The west stand is a relic. So let them sit somewhere else. If it's at home. Fine. They have an option.
That doesn’t increase our revenue or atmosphere though. I think we’re coming at it from different angles, you’re thinking of it in terms of making fans happier (and thinking sod them as they’ve got other options) and I’m thinking of it as making our ground more appealing to increase our fan base. Obviously, it’s not a priority when money is tight but it does put people off as evidenced by them being the last tickets to sell (if at all).
Could a solution to the West Stand issue being to just sell those tickets cheaper? I know it will mean some people who would have paid more paying less but it will also mean people who would have paid nothing paying something. A big reason I won’t sit there (unless there’s no other option) is that I’m not going to pay the exact same as ESL for a much worse experience. There’s a precedent for selling tickets with worse view etc. cheaper so it wouldn’t be difficult to extend that idea. Unless we’re not allowed as we can only price based on view and not facilities and so ESL and WSL has to be the same?
At what point did I ever say the ground doesn't need improvement. You have added that to justify your argument. That is not the argument. They are not fickle fans you are quoting. They are fans wanting to watch the game. it's a choice. They. the fickle ones for the sake of my repeating myself. Have had the opportunity to choose other sections of the ground. My last say on the subject. You carry on if you want.
Let's face it. Our use of the ground is awful. If we can get the west stand up to scratch it would be great. I do think the club are trying to address the issue. It is what it is for now. It wouldn't stop me from sitting their if I had to. I'm here to watch barnsley not for a day out.
Calm down, mate. I wasn’t aware it was an argument in the first place for me to ‘justify’. I’m just having a chat with you.
I've sat and stood in there for 40 years and wouldn't want to sit anywhere else. It's not everyone's cup of tea but it'll do for me .
