That's assuming folk don't pack it in.

Next home game we need a chant or many chants of "West Stand give us a wave" from the Ponty.

Get the message across in a typical Barnsley way we're not happy

I sent an email to the club asking for a seating plan so that I could look what seats are available with us having to relocate but I have had a reply saying this is not possible & I can visit or ring the club , very poor , I have replied asking them that if I cannot get through to view then am I supposed to guess where vacant seats are , to be honest I am disgusted , I have only been attending for 60 years & I receive a letter telling me that I relocate or take a refund & that basically means , see yer , 60 years of watching the club & they say I can have a refund , minds you I know a lot on here will be rejoicing as they hate the west stand but to us who have poured our cash into those seats in the west stand I find that " you can have a refund " very distasteful & obviously do not appreciate us one jot , tonight I feel absolutely gutted.

I’ve rang today and changed 7 tickets.

It’s tricky with Sheff Utd match - hence they can’t do it online.

Basically, select seats for Sheff Utd game. Either stay there, or see what elsewhere is available afterwards and re-confirm with club.

I had a helpful phone call with the Box Office - but for certain, this wasn’t planned as it’s given them a right headache…..

I always remember those blue disabled cars inside grounds from the 70s - always seemed to be at Chelsea!!

I see your point, but if West Standers weren't offered a refund and were told they had to relocate or lose their money, I think that would cause more of an uproar.
Is there a 3rd option you'd like to see?

3rd option is continue to operate the stand and spend the money needed to pass the safety inspection. At least to the end of the season.
If then it’s decided to be uneconomical to run it next season fair enough we know where we stand
Read the carefully worded club statement. They haven’t been forced to close it they’ve decided to close it calculating that a few hundred refunds worst case is cheaper than fixing it and paying for stewards that could be used to increase the away end capacity. To do this mid season is appalling.

I half agree. But we don’t know what the costs of repair would be. Plus with these things, you’ve a lead time too.

Money wise, yes, makes sense to close and divert resources elsewhere. Sentiment and timing aside, it makes business sense.

I still want to know what the 'number of West Stand specific crowd management challenges' are. I would have thought that considering the demographic of the average west stand user it would present far less 'crowd management challenges' than the top corner of the ponty end does.

I’ve been wondering about that as well and can’t think what they can be. I’ve never seen any trouble in there not even a single Kit Kat thrown though there used to be a @celebrity Monkey in the WSL. Maybe it’s watching out for cuddly toys?

I'm assuming they're using the heavy rain last homematch where folk moved together to keep out of the rain rather than staying in their seats.

The fact that you are being offered a refund is basically don"t like what is happening then tough you can have your money back & don"t bother supporting us anymore , I made a simple request to the club to ask for a seating plan to see what options are available & they cannot even manage that , I am also upset that all this should have been sorted out before a ball was kicked, we have only attended 5 matches , surely maintenance & safety certificates should be issued in close season its not like something has developed over night, but after a life time of watching the reds to be told if you dont like it you can stop coming, its not that simple is it ..

Yep, i thought that too, the strange thing is folk have been doing that for years without even the slightest bit of trouble. I also have a suspicion (based on nothing but my own thoughts) that they want to get folk away from the dugout aswell.

In my opinion that’s a red herring. There are absolutely no issues with crowd management in that stand.

Just starts to make Schopp a bit of a hate figure. Can't see it myself. If he can't take the stick he shouldn't be in the dug out.
