I'm just thinking about it logically, with no sentiment attached to the West Stand. Let's say the recent heavy rains have further damaged the roof to the point that although it was fit for purpose at the start of the season, it now isn't. They can't allow fans to sit there until it's fixed, and it isn't fixable until the close season due to access and egress of heavy plant, cranes etc. In that scenario you realistically only have two options. Sit elsewhere or have a refund. They can't even offer you iFollow for most of the games due to TV broadcasting laws. I've no idea of the exact reasons it's shut, but as i posted elsewhere, there is no way in which it benefits anyone at the club to be refunding a thousand season ticket holders, so I can't imagine it's been done to upset anyone.
You are probably right but the letter I received does not indicate what the future is, if it was to have said we are moving you whilst repairs are being done etc etc then thats fine but it doesn"t & yet it says that reporters & media will continue to use it which indicates that there not going to be any cranes , bull dozers or heavy plant being used & those of us who sit on the concrete based, no roof open seats are struggling to see any safety issues but this letter leaves you in the dark but yet the stand will be used during a match day , it makes you wonder what exactly are the reasons & motives behind this move .
I've just posted in another thread, that the only way it could be used in a positive way is to re-utilise the stewards from the West Stand in the away end and allow another 1000 paying away fans in, while we relocate the majority of West Stand supporters in the East/Ponty. But I still don't think it will make us any money except against teams with massive away followings.
