If Nicky Eaden had not been switched from midfield to right back he would most likely ended up in non league football and missed out on the fantastic career he had.
Do you think Hondermarck will slot into the back three or do you think the club will have abandoned his conversion, given that we have Cundy, McCarthy, Moon, Sraha, J Williams, Mads, Kitching (and currently Helik) who can all play in the back three? Maybe Hondermarck will be utilised more in the midfield, what do you think? Interesting observation about Nicky Eaden, i didn't know that. I suppose the difference is we had an exceptional coaching team (Wilson, Winstanley etc) mapping out his career and focused on his progress, whereas Hondermarck had Schopp and Asbaghi.
I think we have sufficient centre backs to allow Hondermark to play in midfield now. If we have 5 subs back perhaps we can have a grafter and a creator in the middle and then replace them both at half time to keep up the intensity.
The fact we’ve given him a 2 year deal kind of tells me the current coaches think he has a chance but time will tell a suppose.
Interesting...looks like the club rate him. Personally if it was choice between hondermark and palmer I'd go with the former all day long....especially in this division.
They said the same about both Mowatt & Woodrow but we got another season out of them, you are more than likely right but you never know until it happens
I think my point was Poya or any other coach weren't inventing the wheel. They (the coaches) see players day in and day out and sometimes see something in a player that we don't.I bet theres hundreds of players who have started out in one postion but progressed playing an other. As for Nicky he was released by Mel Machin but Eric brought him back to the club because he had seen his potenial as a full back and the rest they say is history.
Good points. As for Nicky Eaden, the Mel Machin era was just before my time (I started going in 95). I was being genuine with my question to you though, do you think he will form part of the defence or play more in midfield? Someone mentioned RWB, which may be an option?
That's where he's supposed to be training up isn't it? For the RB/RWB position? Full backs/wing backs, especially ones who are physical and have decent pace, are the new fad especially these days. Basically wingers playing a bit deeper. I suspect the club wants him to transition to that position because he will be worth a lot more than if he stayed in midfield
No idea mate. I'm sure centre back was mentioned at some stage last season, and he did play on the right of a back three in a game, Middlesbrough away I think? Could be wrong..
No clue mate. I know it's some form of defence theyre wanting him trained up on. I've completely blurred out last season completely sooo...
