It's just professional wrestling, massively transparent but has to be said all the same. Wednesday are on a hiding to nothing, loaning then selling a player to help a local rival. They are trying to save face with the fans. I said from the start C'OG was going to cost us 400k minimum. They know we're laughing at them, something has to sugar the pill.
yes but if they are skint like ive heard then maybe they wont be able to loan the likes or leroy etc again this season hence they need ogrady and hope he can do they job he did for us. Thing is swfc dont play like us. Ogrady would be back to playing up front battlng for balls hoofed into the area instead of the neat build up play he fitted in so well with here.
To be fair I think we played our fair share of hoof ball since O'Grady came into the team and it worked, we did mix it up with some good passing play as well though. There's a fine line between playing good football and ending up with the tippy tappy stuff we had under Hill - dominating possession but not doing anything with it.
I told you about the offer last week and I also know O 'Grady does not want to go back to Wednesday so we will see!!!!
Nowt on Paul walker, and the rest's tweets.....and they always know what's going on........I'd take this with a pinch of salt......
They wouldn't quote Flitcroft if he hadn't said owt. It's been known for a few days that Wednesday had rejected our initial offer. That's what riles me with things these days, no fcuker believes owt until deedar Walker confirms it. He's last to know on all sorts, yet gets the credit when he finally confirms other peoples rumours. Reight job he's got.
So it's on for Clayton Donaldson then and he looks a handy player. I still think that O'Grady will arrive, but only after a) Wednesday sign some 6'8" bean pole for their hoofball game, or b) January when O'Grady has not made one single first team start and his boot-marks are all over Jones' door.
Donaldson looks gash whenever I've seen him. And he's 29. But Flicker gets everything right so I expect him to smack in 20 goals next season.
I'm sure I read somewhere during the recall clause saga on Porktalk, that Jones had stated publicly he didn't want O'Grady back at Hillsborough..can't see him wanting to sign anywhere else..if they want to be difficult, leave it alone and by December they'll be desperate to get something.
Dave Jones doesn't rate him. He was saying just a few weeks ago that Barnsley need to make an offer and not just talk about it.
what gets me is that according to yesterday's chronicle the new chairman says he expects to be talking to the manager next week when he returns from holiday and yet the star reckons to have got a quote from Flitcroft saying he doesn't now expect the deal to go thru. I can't see him talking to a newspaper whilst on holiday and not talking to the new chairman.
My believe is this is all just bullish!t. COG will sign for REDS........SWFC don't want him, which was clear when they loaned him to a relegation rival. Negotiations will end up at "undisclosed fee" which in reality will be ~£250K. SIMPLE
Just two problems....... 1) 250k wouldn't cover what they paid for him, his signing on fee and his wages. I can't see them selling him at a loss. 2) If we don't offer what they want i'm sure after his form for us someone else will. People seem to think that if they don't sell him to us that means they will be left with an unhappy player.
Lets see....... The consensus of opinion is that he signed for SWFC at a similar fee, Dave Jones does not want him, COG wants to sign (which in reality does not really help the deal) so they recover their money and its a win-win? That's my train of thought on this lovely Sunday morning anyway!
That's not how it works though is it? The money we received for Davies won't have covered his wages and signing on fee for us. But it was a higher sum than we would get in the summer (ie nothing). COG is out of contract next summer and can leave for nothing. He's worth more now than he will be in December, and more in December than next summer. Given he's unlikely to play much for them and that they would have to continue to pay him wages then it is best they sell. The question is what is someone else prepared to pay. Which is where your second point becomes a valid one. If someone else is willing to pay more it will dictate what we have to pay
