I actually thought it was a fair comment Andy.

I'm really starting to regret my decision to renew.

all immaterial. we won't be told what any transfer fee is. i don't see the point in frothing over a mythical sum. i will only be pi$$ed off, if the replacement striker turns out to be worse.

good luck too grady if he wants to play football on a mud bath and tin pot pitch then so be it, lets rise above the crap and get behind what we have left, half a million we making a mini profit the future is still bright and part of wilsons revolution, we all knew some players would go but also until its official stay calm

I'm resigned to the loss of O'Grady, although I would be inspired if the club grew a pair and said that he wasn't for sale (knowing full well we won't attract his quality in the lower division as a replacement). I'd love to see the club make a statement of intent by saying that our best players will serve out their contracts, and that we're in the market to strengthen, purpose being a swift return to Championship football for both the players and the club.

    That won't happen though.

Would I be surprised to see O'Grady go for £500k? Nope. Nothing would surprise me. I'd be up in arms if it was less, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Personally, I'd let him go for a million - because he could be the difference between promotion and staying in league one. That's worth more than a million.

My initial inclination is to think that we on here are putting a lot of stall in one report from a distant local rag, which by the standards of our own is probably quite wide of the mark.

However, it is of concern that the club seem to be on an urgent mission to sell CO'G. We seemingly have four saleable assets in Jennings, O'Grady, Steele and Crainie and I'm struggling to see the strategy that is behind CO'G being one we let go. Steele has been a good player for us but there are goalkeepers of a similar ilk out there which we could sign to replace him. Crainie is similar and we also have Nyatanga and Mvoto. Crainie and Steele may not be physical enough for pub league 1 anyway. Therefore, I'd be seeing those two as the ones to cash in on, if anybody.

As things stand CO'G and Jennings give us the best chance of surviving and making a decent fist of things next year. They're the two players we have that are probably a bit better than what other teams have. We should be trying our best to keep them. If CO'G leaves, Danny Rose is our most experienced striker!

If CO'G does have to go then the price has to reflect both the market (eg Grabban) and his opportunity cost to us (cost of replacement plus lower chance of regaining the relative riches of the Championship). I'd be really disappointed if a fee of £1-1.5m was not the going rate for a player at the height of his career who has scored goals at a decent rate in one of the worst teams in the league. He is also a dying breed of player who can be the perfect foil for a smaller, quicker player. He is under contract too. We will not replace CO'G for £500k.

Lastly, I like others, am starting to take the view that Mr Mansford needs to start delivering and backing his words up with actions. I bought my season ticket early (a) because I was always going to renew as this is my club through thick and thin; and (b) it would save a few quid. Therefore, I renewed for my own reasons but BM did come out and say that early renewals would lead to earlier signings - if you don't mean things or are unable to back them up Mr Mansford, please don't say them.

Im sure I heard that its only players who were on a 3 year contract at the start of the season they are relegated that don't count. So Probably only Jennings wont count towards the 60%.

    Unless im worng
