There's no money for this, Tories aren't getting in, Reeves basically admitting 10% cuts still to come in other areas. So there's no chance they'll find the money.

So your generation fought for workers' rights then voted to allow the government to strip them away when they were no longer of working age?

I sometimes look at these Brexit relived type posts and get the impression that we voted to come out of Eden where everything was wonderful. the fact is it wasn't which is why the vote happened. Agree a lot did a protest vote and regretted it. I voted stay as their workers rights rules were good, but I did think it needed reform. I also think we'll go back one day...cud be wrong.

I blame class mobility in the UK, the 'working class' have been forgotten about, poor education, complete lack of opportunity, low self-esteem and sense of worth. (obviously big generalisation and not everyone fits this model)

If this group had more opportunity they wouldn't be making protest votes to shoot themselves in the foot. If they had more education they may have been better able to analyse the options rather than being spoon-fed us-and-them, taking our country back hate by the Daily Heil. I also blame the media, Cameron, Corbyn and Boris.

Easier to fight from within than from out with the union.
I also hope to once again be part of the EEC but I might have to wait until Scotland gets rid of the shackles holding us back.

I put Sky news on earlier, and Farage was on. The bloke who has lost time and again when standing in elections and daren’t stand in the upcoming GE. A bloke who represents a party with minimal national support. Yet there he was. On a flagship news programme. Spouting Islamaphobic bile.

No Green MPs, nor Lib Dems. But Nigel was on. Basically insisting that the national service idea wouldn’t work because there are millions of Muslims who hate everything we stand for. Genuinely. He was able to say this on national TV.

    But Corbyn.

Nope to what? It's objectively true that your generation voted in a way which allows the government to strip away workers' rights, and did so when they reached retirement age. You can't say "nope" because it's not opinion, it's just true.

Plus if you say the younger generation have got no ********, who raised them that way?

I watched have I got news for you on catch up last night.
Farage is not standing in the GE. Cos he's more important things to deal with. Like fighting alongside Trump in America.

LONDON — Nigel Farage has failed to win election to the U.K. parliament on seven separate occasions. This time, he can’t even bring himself to try.

The man who successfully led Britain out of Europe ruled himself out of the running for the U.K. general election on Thursday, less than 24 hours after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak surprised the nation by announcing a snap summer poll.

Farage, the former UKIP and Brexit Party leader, is now honorary president of start-up party Reform UK, which has eaten into Tory poll ratings with its right-wing, anti-immigration agenda.

Nowt to do with the fact Reform will eat into the Tory vote. (Sarcasm)

Well not me. My daughter's a union member, an activist in her local Green Party and regular attendee at Extinction Rebellion and Just Stop Oil protests.

But I'm sure you're just as active....

40 odd percent of my "generation", me included, fought tooth and nail to stay in so please quit the divisive generalisations.

The EU wasn't wonderful, but I can assure you, that wasn't the reason for the vote. I don't want to be the one to tell you the real reason, it might just break your heart!

When speaking to Trevor Phillips, the Sky presenter - who is of West Indies descent - Farage suggested Muslim people don't speak English or share British values, and said: "..when thinking of the West Indies immigration following World War Two, there was a lot of shared things there... shared history, shared culture, shared religion in many cases... most families had served in the forces, or they loved cricket..."

He genuinely stated that, to a bloke of West Indies heritage. But ignoring his selective racism for a minute, I'm pretty sure the Muslim community are keen on cricket, and over 5,000,000 Muslims fought on the side of the Allies in WW2.

The bloke is an abhorrent racist, an Islamaphobe and should be dealt with by the law. There are 4,000,000 Muslims in this country. Human f****** beings. Who believe in a different sky fairy. Each to their own.

There is no way that Sky (or any other channel) would have a bloke on TV spouting similar racist tropes about the 275,000 Jews in the UK. And rightly so.

Why is Farage given a platform full stop? He is a serial failure. His only claim to fame is Brexit. The failure of all failures. And today - on national TV - he says he isn't standing in the GE because: "The election was called so soon that it caught me off guard, and I wouldn't have six months to properly campaign..."

The Tories are cn*ts, we all know this. And whilst Labour are hardly promising huge change, they'll win the GE at a canter. But I fully expect to see reps from both parties all over my TV screen, and those from the Lib Dems and Greens. But this odious little rat shouldn't be anywhere near the political landscape of our country, and frankly, should be in a police cell ready to answer a charge of hate crimes. Cn*t.

Not that the Tories are making things up as they go along, or anything, but this was their official response on the matter as of [checks notes] er, 3 days before this PR stunt. 20240526_125726.jpg
