The facts are you are judged by what you WIN FACT AS I SAID YESTERDAY, i watched a program about former Real Madrid and Spain striker Raul. He made it clear that been a top player means winning things. I wont say is name but the guy whos ( not sure how its spelt) idiolised like raul also said it about what you win but they know nowt. Merlin mario and the rest know a lot more about sports than him.
I'm surprised no one else picked up on this. How does Scott Parker sum up what's wrong with the English game? Yesterday it was evident he was knackered, but then again I would be for playing 3 full games putting as much effort in as he did. Against Ukraine and Sweden he covered every blade of grass, and yesterday he put in some brilliant challenges and blocks, only his distribution was lacking somewhat. He plays with passion and pride, he even still tucks his shirt in and actually respects the game that he plays. I'd say he's on of the few remaining footballers that show what is right with the English game. (I agree on Milner though, he was *****)
Genuine question - was he THAT good? Italia '90 before my time and I was only a bairn when Euro 96 was on so I can't comment on him.
Is that a fact or an opinion? It seems many others think differently, so it can't possibly be a FACT. Unless you mean a hemsy fact which probably translates as something along the lines of "goo goo ga ga brrraap". It seems they do. Thanks for pointing that out.
watched a few videos. and the only thing he did that i can gather, cry like a fecking girk about fouling someone. He made the foul, not the man on the moon.
I've tried to keep out of the debate But, in my opinion, he WAS that good. His ability to drift past opponents with seemingly little effort was a joy to behold. He could do this against the best teams & players in the world, too. Off the pitch he had his demons and, at times, behaved disgracefully. On the pitch he was an utter joy to watch and there's not been an English player to match him since.
No not a fact, just your blinkered opinion. Some players are unlucky and don’t win medals but that doesn’t make them poor players. Stop being so naive. One day you will realise you can have an independent thought about something without needing to hang on the every word uttered by your idols; being an ex player doesn't necessarily make them more knowledgeable than a fan. If you want to only accept the views of people in the game why do you keep ignoring what Sir Alex has said about Gazza? Is it because it doesn’t back up your argument so its just convenient to disregard it.
I can understand you being knackered but for a professional footballer to be knackered after playing six and a half hours of football in 13 days is a ****ing disgrace.
I'd like to see you run about for 90mins in 32 degree heat and not get tired. Plus all the travelling to and from the games (Capellos fault). I think just how hard Parker worked, and the style of football that we played made fatigue more of an issue than it did for other players/teams.
But Phillip, please answer this for me.... Throughout this nation (England), all football supporters who were around at the time, or those who have watched footage of the man, would name Paul Gascoigne as the best player of his generation. Some would even go as far as to name him in their 'best ever' England XI. Hell, some would even suggest he's the most talented player that England have ever produced. Now, he didn't WIN trophy after trophy, such as a Phil Neville or a Frank Lampard. But I can guarantee you that in 50 years time Paul Gascoigne will still be talked about in the same appreciative manner by England fans, journalists, and those involved directly in the game. I can't imagine anybody remembering Lampard or Neville similarly, except maybe the fans of their respective clubs. So, WINNING things isn't the be all and end all is it? Alan Shearer is the greatest striker the Premier League has ever seen - he won next to nothing. Neil Redfearn is regarded by many as the greatest Barnsley FC player of all time - he won nowt of note. Andy Murray is regarded as the best male TENNIS player Britain have ever produced - he's won zero slams. Blink-182 are the greatest band of musicians EVER - they haven't had a number one in the pop charts though. I was part of the all-conquering Hoyland Common Falcons football team from the age of 7 to 12, we won everything we took part in - not ONE of us made it professionally. My dog is the best dog to ever walkie on the planet - he's won **** all either. *I'm now bored. Good day to you Hemsy.
Regular readers of HT's clap trap are well aware of that. He just repeats ad nauseum what people say on sky, no opinion of his own.
I lied, I'm not bored yet. The only thing he did that you can gather eh? Thank **** you aren't gathering intelligence - you absolute cretin. IMO like.
Re: I've tried to keep out of the debate I've not got involved in it because I never saw him play. But I do remember as a 3/4 year old having a poster of him up on mi wall after mi Dad sent off to Spurs for it. For one player to be so well thought of by a generation says something about him.
I'm not a professional footballer though. I'm not paid to be at peak physical fitness. That's not my job. It's Parker's though. He also has a team of experts helping him do this. I've got a mountain bike and a pair of trainers.
FFS Phil that was raw emotion from a footballing genius who had just seen his dream die. Why the need to ridicule him for showing emotion in what was the biggest and most emotionally charged game this nation has been involved in since 1966.
Never really had an opinion on HT, but after reading some of the stuff he's posted of late it's a bit embarrassing I think. How someone can say that Gazza was not all that he's made out to be is ridiculous. One of the best players England have ever produced.
