We don't need it here though.

Noon is when the sun is at its highest point in the sky. Going on an hour for Summertime is ok, but bloody hell, why two hours?

It would mean that at 12 noon the sun would be in the 10am position. Pretty parky eh? The hottest time of the day will be around 5 to 6pm. Who the chuff wants that? People with young kids will never get them to bed, and if they do, they will never get them to sleep.

The sun would still be above the horizon in June at after 10pm with daylight fading half an hour before midnight. I'm not a morning person either, but let those who do like to be up and about early have some daylight as well.

Summer mornings will be dark, and by early September (still summer) 7am risers will be getting up in the dark too. They are even talking about bringing it in for England and Wales only, as Scotland would never agree. So Scotland would be an hour behind.

It ridiculous and should be opposed vigorously.

they WONT go forward 2 hours.

just one, which makes a hell of a lot of sense. it would stay one hour ahead in november but would then go forward one hour in the next march, wherefore being one hour ahead of what it used to be. 2 hours would be mental as it wouldnt get light til about quarter past nine in winter -but thats not going to happen.

i could bet the VAST majority or people dont get up until 7-7.30. therefore this wouldnt effect them in the slightest. we would have lighter nights allowing people to come home and have longer to be able to do stuff in the evening, sports etc.

    Yes they will

The plan is to put the clocks forward one hour this March, and then another hour next March. That's two hours by my calculations.

    use yer bonce

they already go forward an hour anyway, so another hour next year would mean that the time would, overall go forward one hour and would be great.

    Bleedin' 'ell !

The correct time is GMT - which we are on now.

British Summer Time (BST) - is an advancement of one hour on the norm. That happens next week.

In October, when the clocks ought to go back again, the plan is to leave BST as it is, ie NOT putting the clocks back and effectively leaving them at summer time all through the winter.

Then, in March 2007, they go forward again by one hour, so they will be two bloody hours in front of GMT. They will then continue to go backwards and forwards they do now.

So - Winter will be on Summer time (One hour in advance) and

Summer will be on DOUBLE summer time (Two hours in advance)

    Now - use YOUR bonce.

    misleading

i know exactly whats going on if they change this, and as you have just showed, so do you.

but to say we are moving two hours forward is misleading. it would be one hour change forward all year round.

    I despair

The facts are there, yet you choose to say they are not.

The correct time now is 6.20 pm 21 March

This time next year it will be 7.20pm 21 March

And in one year and one week from now it will be 8.20pm

Tell you what. When the clocks go forward this weekend, find a spare one and put it on two hours instead of one.

Monitor it throughout the summer until the end of October. It will give you a flavour of what is to come in 2007.

This can be summed up in one word ----- London.

London wants it - F*ck the rest of the country.

    I rest my case.

Can we go on Eastern Standard Time instead

    like New York?

Would make it much better for me to watch sport from the US!

Makes about as much sense as putting us on Central European Time!

funny you should say that but..

The one and only reason to thank God we joined Europe.

If we'd decided to stay with America, they would be hankering to put us back 5 hours instead!

One of the arguments put forward

for being on CET is that we do alot of trade with Europe so would be better to be on the same time, but

    1. We also do a lot of business with the US
    2. The US manage to have 5 time zones (6 counting Hawaii) and do business from coast to coast ok.

    In which case

Why should we turn our time topsy turvy to comply with others when it is possible to work from different time zones?

Its been done before 1968 -71

One of the biggest advocates for the change was ROSPA they had statistics that showed a big reduction in accidents. ( Apart from a few farmers who fell over thier early morning milking stools) nowt to do wi neet afoor like.........

RE: Its been done before 1968 -71

The 68-71 experiment merely left the clocks at BST (1 hour in advance) for 3 years. ie, not bothering to put them back in winter.

This proposal intends, not only to leave winter on summertime, but to advance the clocks one further hour in summer.

As you have gathered, I feel particularly strongly about this - and I know I am in a minority

It's all about what London wants - the rest of the country can go to buggery.

London has shorter summer days than us and longer winter days - it would suit them down to the ground.

We will have to endure darker mornings - and evenings that go on forever.

Kids won't get to bed or to sleep.

The respite some folk get when noisy kids finally bugger off, will have to wait an hour longer.

Early morning people who like to walk their dogs and enjoy the sunny quiet early solitude will lose much of that.

Our winter mornings, starting this year, will be dark until close on 9am.

September mornings next summer will never get going.

Scotland will sensibly opt out, giving us a first time ever time division in the UK.

    Mad!

    eh!

i know all the facts, trust me, and all my posts show that.

yes, we'll be 2 hours ahead of GMT in the summer whereas we are one hour ahead at the moment.

theres so many more arguments for moving the clocks forward one hour overall than there are against.
