With 24,000 at Oakwell and 35,000 at WHL it was the biggest ever attendance between Third Division and non-league teams. That financial boost should have kept Enfield in business for many years to come yet, within a few years, they were in big trouble through poor ownership problems and the club were liquidated in 2007. A new version, supporter led, rose from the ashes and this is where they are today.

No turning thingy on the turnstiles so we just ran in without paying.
My mate on the roof of the stand for some bizare reason.
Fudge got trashed in their catering shed.
    Precious little football.

Police figures I'd take with a pinch of salt tbh. Especially as they would have to have had it told to them by the club.
I'd imagine there were a lot more mixed in around the ground. There was pandemonium. Given the totally unexpected turnout. People just wanting to get in the ground, I genuinely wouldnt have a clue as to the true figure. It was the same at Anfield.
    Estimates ranged from 14-17k.
    Middlesbrough 10-14k.
We allus prefer the bigger one lol. It sounds better.
And it's the Met. Wouldnt trust em to give me the right time. ;):)

I got talking to an Enfield fan in a pub down that way a few yrs back. What surprised me (Although he was too young to have been at the game) Was his total ignorance of the event. And its significance to his team.

Typical non league ground for the day. If memory is correct it had pegs and a rope lanyard round the pitch and a small wooden shed behind one goal that ser v ed as a stand. I paid a bit extra and went in there. They had a winger come midfielder that dominated the game and we just couldn't match him..For me we were beat by a one man show.

Of course. Wilson was a Sgt so there would have to be a JNCO below him in charge of all the private soldiers

Whilst I'd love for us to field our strongest side, I don't think it means we're not taking the competition seriously if we don't. Say we fielded players like Josh Benson, Conor McCarthy, Sam Cosgrove, Ben Killip, Robbie Cundy (if fit), even Luca Connell. Players with plenty of league experience, who have been on the fringes of the first team, or are coming back to fitness. They should be comfortably beating a side from the 7th tier.

The only way for me that we could be accused of not taking it seriously, is if we put out a full squad of academy players, and even then, you'd still have us as favourites. We've a lot of games coming up, so it would be madness not to use this opportunity to maybe give a few of our key players a rest.

I think it was a good idea when they brought in pens, and stopped the many replays that were sometimes needed.
But somewhere along the way, the Fa cup was ruined and they stopped being our favourite fixtures.
The old Third round draw and match day used to be something to look forward to.
