RE: Hayes tackling back he was tracking back because he was the one who lost the ball because he didnt get stuck in, chased the man to the corner flag and lashed him giving away a free kick in a dangerous area. for me he doesnt jump for headers dispite being as tall as richards, who also isnt good enough. hayes won a few flick ons at corners but in general play, ie up against a centre half he won nowt and never does. its all well and good saying he sets up goals etc but he is first and foremost a striker and he isnt scoring
Hayes?...Bloody Hayes? had a decent game yesterday.
Still spends too much time on the flanks for my liking.
Nevertheless if richtea can sign a goal scorer to play beside him we may yet see the rewards of his approach play.
I only hope that McPhail is with us next season after yesterdays passing masterclass.

Well you're wrong.. Unless Hassell suddenly changed his shirt to #19 and dyed his hair to black. It was definitely Tonge that he beat, because Tonge held his arms up and pulled out as he didn't want to give a penalty away.
Thank God for that.. And yes, I agree with you, but I honestly think he is told to spend more time on the flanks and create chances for others. I don't argue for one second that he hasn't scored enough goals, but if people would score the chances he creates, much like Richards against Bournemouth, Huddersfield and yesterday, we wouldn't even be worried about whether we got in the playoffs now, we'd be chasing Colchester. And people who call him lazy...Jesus wept. Watch how he chased their winger all the way back to the corner flag yesterday to slide tackle him, and how when they almost broke late on he tracked their winger all the way and hooked the ball away from him. Lazy my arse.
RE: Thank God for that.. he was tracking back because he was the one who lost the ball because he didnt get stuck in, chased the man to the corner flag and lashed him giving away a free kick in a dangerous area. when moved to left wing he had to track back. for me he doesnt jump for headers dispite being as tall as richards, who also isnt good enough. hayes won a few flick ons at corners but in general play, ie up against a centre half he won nowt and never does. its all well and good saying he sets up goals etc but he is first and foremost a striker and he isnt scoring
Exactly. Won everything. If he hadn't been on the pitch, we'd have lost. McPhail was sublime in the first half and shaded it, but for overall contribution throughout the entire game, Hassell should have been the only one in the running.
