Norman Hunters red & white army ad infinitum I know we whimper a similar tune now and again but I remember it being defeaning in the early eighties and going on for half the game. I'm afraid the atmosphere of old Oakwell with 20k+ in will never be repeated no matter how successful we ever become. It used to make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Halcyon days.
the whole ground shouting "go on" when ronnie picked the ball up on the edge of our area and set off running the full length of the pitch with it
I'm pretty sure that back then when this was sung The Ponty would sing it & then clap whilst the Brewery & West Stand would echo it. The Brewery & West Stand would then clap whilst the Ponty repeated. I thought that sounded fantastic when you got a roar from the Ponty, either in front of or behind the Reds, depending on the direction of play, & then they players got it in stereo!
Sitting on our asses seems to have dulled the vocal chords I think its because people dont tend to sit with big groups of friends anymore...and the fact that we just dont play that sort of football these days coupled with 4 years of despair.
Yeh it's sitting down that's done it how many people sing sitting down? That bird off X-Factor, Robert Wyatt etc excepted

They used to have, in the seasons before the Prem The Ponty used to be unreserved seating. Your ticket gave you access & you sat where there was a space. Since the Prem, it's been "sit where your ticket tells you".
