We couldn’t get a win at Boundary Park for love nor money ……
Sad times for a club I would call a rival back then.

I remember losing on their plastic pitch there 2-0.

    Sorry to see them drop.

Those stats are awful. Feel for their fans.
I don't think they will find it easy in the conference (with Scunny now also down there) but hopefully they come back at the 1st attempt.

Seems like only yesterday they were part of the newly formed Premier League. While in some ways it's sad to see teams drop out of the EFL, it's a stark reminder that history counts for nothing in the latest league tables. You're only as good as your current points tally.

First time we won there after an eternity was the promotion to the premier season. Same thing happened at Maine Road..
1982, when we must have had 5,000+ there was a good day out. We took the ground over

Feel for them, really do. Criminally bad ownership.

Now they are a club in dire need of new ownership. Having recently listened to Craig Davies and David Wheater on undr the cosh, and their respective times at Oldham, they sound like they are systematically trying to destroy the football club. Bleeding the club dry, not paying players on time, averaging 3 managers a season, taking action against fans, transfer embargoes. And to top it off, they've started publicly saying they're trying to sell the club, even though it's clear they're not.

I've listened to the Undr The Cosh podcasts with Shez, his brother John, Taggs and laterally David Wheater. All ex Latics. Crikey the things that go off there behind the scenes are mind boggling.

Really sad. Difficult to believe a team who were in the Premier League are now in non league. But then you look at league 2 and there were 3 teams who had been in the top flight down there this season.

It just shows the impact that can be had upon a club and community by continued mismanagement.

It also shows how much difference money makes. Teams such as Brighton, Brentford, Bournemouth, Fulham... all historically small clubs being bank rolled to the Premier League.

Oldham, Scunthorpe, Wrexham, Stockport,Grimsby Halifax, Nortts County,, Chesterfield, Southend, Torquay were all regular opponents when I was a lad. All mismanaged like us. Can see us joining them in a few years if we continue with the footballer factory approach.

It does and it doesn't. There are a fair few clubs in leagues 2 and 1 who have spent eye watering amounts of money and are struggling. But yes, if you have a good coach, a good executive, good players all pulling in the same direction, you're more likely to succeed, and money will help you have more opportunities at that than not.

Of the ten clubs you quote there we've played against seven at Championship level. It's a stark warning not to be complacent.
