Gutted about that, he looked quality. I think last season's post-new year horror show proves we desperately need a Drinkwater/Norwood type player to create something and add a bit of quality in possession. These players are hard to come by and usually fetch £1m so to miss out here is a big blow. I respect the need for a defender, but if Butterfield goes, the priority for me has to be a creative midfielder. Dawson-Perkins-Digby-JOB-Etuhu will do a job, but I don't see a real creater there.

    Agreed.

I thought that would have been our priority tbh.

The problem is history shows that when the manager has put a lot of time and effort into trying to persuade a player to join and we miss out, they have to settle for second best and we end up with someone that is not as good. Our recent transfer history is testament to it, and it reads like Hill and Flitcroft spent a lot of time on Norwood, which probably means they are now having to revisit a list of alternatives, and with pre season very close, little time to restart a lengthy negotiation process.

All signings are a gamble to some degree, but when the manager has identified his targets, done his diligence and put that much effort into making it happen, its a massive blow.

Massive blow? Really??? An unproven young player goes to a higher-paying rival. Did I miss the bit where Barca were after his signature too? Losing a really good player we already have would be a blow; this is just the normal ebb & flow of pre-season transfer activity. I'm sure Keith has seen this a hundred times before and won't be losing any sleep - it's naive to think Norwood will have been the only iron in the fire.

Classic example of us needing to finish mid table and improving the reputation of our club, that summer argument on here, 500k for Vaz Te or mid table finish? Things are being put into perspective now.

A blow in that Hill's spent what sounds like weeks on the deal and we are a week away from pre season starting, not naive enough to say he wont have an alternative list but I dont believe in settling for 2nd best in anything, as life proves it tends to turn out to be a case of what if ie a bit ****.

Added to which we will now have to suffer posts about every goal and assist he makes for Huddersfield on here from the many I told you sos.

Meh. Would like to say good luck to him but I don't really care. Not bitter, just not fussed what happens to non-BFC players.

BFC hampered in what they can offer by the continuing piss taking from JB and his agent.

The amount of bairning that Coventry fans are doing about missing out on his transfer suggests we've missed out on a good player. They might've been been relegated but so was Etuhu. I'm happy to pick up the best players from relegated clubs, they will be better than our mediocre near-relegated ones.

Yeah if we had kept Vaz Te and finished midtable I reckon Norwood would have come to us. Midtable established championship club over newly promoted team. However a team staying up due to admin of another team is going to struggle over a newly promoted club with recent success.
