Incredibly cruel of the BBC journalist to persist with the interview. Though if you do need a bit of a timeline cleanse after recent events it's worth checking out her dad's account.
Bronze on push bkes in Womens team pursuit. Thought we'd had it when Italians led by 1.5 secs but timed it perfectly to win by 2 5 secs
I had worse when the chain slipped when I was riding my mate's Raleigh Chopper in the 70's....hit a drain, went ar*e over t*t , face planted the causie and the ape hangers nearly ripped my nuts off.....happy days.
Poor that. The American deserves it though. He ran to the line with way more determination. British Athletics needs an overhaul if funding is going to continue at current levels. It's not delivering the gold medals expected for the millions.
Poor? Lol. You said all this last night, someone pointed out that we are winning a same amount of medals as we always have (2012 apart), but you decide to take the opportunity to be derogatory about a silver medal and 5th fastest time EVER!
The American deserved it no arguments from me. He looked to be trying alot more in the last couple of hundred. Funding is based on success. If you don't get golds you're going to struggle to keep funding for a sport.
There's a lot of athletes. We've our heptathletes to go as well. It's a shame we've only got 1 gold, it's fun ringing that bell!
Poor? Good god. Stop talking. He's just run the 6th fastest time of all time. The only people to ever beat that time are Quincy Hall, who just won, Butch Reynolds, who everyone agrees was on drugs, Wayde van Niekerk, and the God that is Michael Johnson. And Michael Johnson only ever ran faster twice. I remember watching Michael Johnson win gold in Atlanta in 1996 with an amazing performance that took your breath away with an unbelievable time. 43.44. Mathew Hudson-Smith has just run 43.44. You know nothing about this so please stop talking.
You don't think Hudson-Smith was trying? Fook me sideways. Have you ever sprinted 400m? You haven't a clue.
Trying more? You think any of these lads aren’t giving everything? I’m sure mistakes can be made tactically & in preparation on occasion but the idea that some of these men are trying more than the others in the biggest sporting moment of their life seems ridiculous
They get nowhere near the funding American athletes get. However it's not just about funding otherwise you wouldn't have all these African nations winning all the long distance events. Finishing 2nd in the world in your chosen event is amazing however you look at it. Getting to a final is also a fantastic achievement. Imagine being in the top 8 in the world at anything never mind an elite sporting race.
