I hope Imane Khelif adds Pinsent to her list of people to sue and takes him for all he's worth for his pathetic comments during the closing ceremony.
I've always liked Steve Cram, but also for me he doesn't seem to fit right as a commentator. I think he ought to be a pitch/track side interviewer instead.
Great Olympics all round. Well done to France and all the competing nations. I felt a bit of hope after all the sh1t3 that's going on with the World. The closing ceremony was as mad as a box of frogs. Interesting to see that they carry the Olympic flame in a miner's flame safety lamp.
I'm surprised you haven't put Khelif winning gold in your worst moments of this Olympics Helen. How dare that female win a gold in the female boxing category indeed.
Isn't the whole point that it's not clear cut, and the fact that it isn't is down to the IOC. Which is what he was referring to. It should never have been allowed to have escalated in this way, it's unfair on everyone , including Khelif.
spot on! This situation has been brewing for a long time and officialdom should have sorted it out. I don't fully understand the whole situation re XXY chromosomes and the possibility that some athletes have an advantage over others. Unless something is done women's sport as we now know it is finished.
For continued harassment against her and trying to discredit her achievements. It’s purely misogyny because she doesn’t look feminine enough. If she was white, blonde and looked “conventionally attractive” there’s not a chance it would have escalated the way it did. You know it, I know it.
As I said, it shouldn't be playing out in front of an audience in the way it has. However, enough wonen are concerned about the implications on women's sport that the discussion needs to be had. And telling women they can't be concerned about it is also misogynistic.
I can train as much as I want. I will never be an olympic swimmer, runner, long jumper. High jumper, shot putter, diver or many other sports because those winning the sports are genetically advantaged. Nobody seems to care about that but if it's a woman being disadvantaged by someone genetically superior to them the **** hits the fan.
what some posters are not acknowledging and addressing is that many people are aware that there is a problem and it should be addressed but they offer no solutions. I assume these posters believe there shouldn't be male and female categories at all - all sports competitions should be open to everybody. If they think there should be categories it would be interesting to read what they propose. Because what is happening is that women's sport is under threat and being marginalised - an agenda that suits the misogynists - let's not listen to the women and let's marginalise women's sport!
I really enjoyed it, most I've watched in years. What struck me was the camaraderie amongst nearly all the people competing, despite being in competition with each other they could still congratulate each other, most genuinely looked like friends competing at the local track.
If you don't listen to women and make your own mind you you're misogynistic right? So if you don't listen to the trans community and include them then you are transphobic. Correct?
Agree. When the British girl pipped the Aussie on the line to take bronze in the 1500m the Aussie was first to congratulate her which I thought was a brilliant touch.
It's just a mess. The IBA holding a 3 hour press conference where they all kept contradicting each other has made it 100x worse. The Russian said she failed a testosterone test. Then the British guy said she failed a genetic test not a testosterone test.. but wasn't XY ie genetically male. Then the weird doctor said she was XY. Then they went round in circles for a bit but confirmed the labs that performed the tests were WADA approved. WADA have since confirmed their labs only do drug tests, not genetic, DNA or testosterone. Make of that what you will.
