Been reading a bit about her, its all a bit contradictory as she isn't regarded as a big puncher, has only stopped opponents 5 times, and has actually been beaten a few times With those sort of facts it really must be a borderline things, in this case maybe the Italian girl got one straight on the sneck and just didn't fancy it any more!
Absolutely shameful that boxing earlier!! How on earth can a transgender man woman man whatever be in the ring with a woman??? She’s trained all her life to get here and some utter nonsense sees her having to retire after 45 seconds cos she’s had her face caved in by a bloke……..I’m sorry but if you’re born with a penis irrespective of your current emotions are you still have the build and strength of a man…….this needs to stop sharpish imo!!
See you’ve not read any of the thread and just jumped in with two feet. She’s not transgender and was never born with a penis.
Just read through more of the thread myself and definitely not as black and white as being a transgender. But I've also read that he/she failed a gender test? Which is still ridiculous, why not fight with the men then? No matter what is going on it is clearly an unfair advantage over a biological woman who have worked a lot of their life for these moments to be put up against what some people would consider to have the strength of a man
What about Hergie Bacyadan - the only actual transwoman in the Olympics boxing who lost in the first round?
The “gender test” for athletes is based on testosterone levels. There are many reasons that a woman might fail a testosterone test. Reading the WikiPage of Imane Khelif it states that her dad didn’t want her to be a boxer as he disapproved of boxing for girls. She is a woman according to her birth certificate and passport and has a disorder of sex development.
She was reported to have failed a DNA test which showed she has XY chromosomes. Roughly 1 in 100,000 women have this condition - Swyer syndrome - and it can be inherited. This does not mean she is not physically 100% female.
She is technically intersex - like around 2% of the population. She likely has the full set of female sexual organs and can probably have children after HRT (I'm saying likely because her details aren't fully in the public domain unlike Caster Semenya). This does not make her anything other than female but her genetics may give her certain advantages and disadvantages - these can include lower bone density, lower testosterone levels and increased rates of cancer.
Of course, the other issue is that if an intersex person isn't female (despite being physically female) or male, then they can only be another sex. Which means that there will be far more sexes than previously acknowledged (X0, XX male, XY female, XXY, XXXY, etc. as well as the two standard ones). This makes sex and gender far more complex than the TERFs would like you to think.
I very deliberately used the phrase that she "looked physically different", not the quote you have attributed to me. And she does, in terms of underlying musculature and general physique, which doesn't look feminine in her case. Not sure how old the latter photo is, given the different hairstyle, but it illustrates the issue very clearly.
Stoppages are rare in Womens amateur boxing...as you say she's only stopped 5 opponents out of her 9 victories, but that's a 56% tko ratio....in contrast the Irish boxer Amy Broadhurst who outpointed her for the World Championship Gold medal in 2022 has a 14% tko ratio. Kellie Harrington who she may face soon has won 99 fights with a 3% tko ratio. Edit....Boxrec is saying 51 fights with a 16% tko ratio.
Imagine being such a bigot against trans people that you hate on trans people when complaining about someone who was born a woman, without a penis etc. There's an argument over whether she should be allowed to compete or not, but to suggest she's trans is just wrong and is said purely because they're the current boogieman. Shame on you all.
Thank god there's this reaction because the rest of the thread is an eye opening sh*tshow, one of many in recent times on this board. She was born a woman, she isn't this mythical trans behemoth who can't be defeated, in fact she's been beaten 8 times in her career so far. If you want to argue she shouldn't compete due to her current hormone levels or anything then that's a different subject and one yhat is worth discussing, but to suggest she shouldn't compete because people are incorrectly labelling her transgender is gross and wrong. Do better.
