yes its john simmonds that used to stand behind the nets in the ponty, alway's used to shout penalty when a reds player was fouled.mi fatha's good mates with hisson's that used to stand with him.went with them and mi fathato the fa cup tie at norwhich in the early 90's,the police arrested one his lads for the terrible crime of jumping out of his seat when the reds went close to scoring, big john tried to calm the situation down so they locked him up aswell, but before putting him in the van they wrestled him to the floor, twisted his thumb till it broke, then sparked him out by banging his head on the floor whilecarting him out of the stand.

I seem to recall that Norwich game in the Cup not only for being unlucky on the pitch, but also because some Tarn fan had his B*ll*cks squeezed by the Norwich old bill in an unprovoked ejection (oo matron). I think the victim got a fair payout in the end?

Has 'Reg' being mentioned yet? -

A tall guy. long straight hair, seemed to be Kev Nuttings right hand man on the coach trips. He used to have a catch phrase that went along the lines of 'Get yer scarfs down!'. Reg was a cautious guy and we had barely got out of the Oakwell car park before the catch phrase came out. OK , it was the 70s/80s and coaches regularly got bricked but I think everyone used to find it funny when he constantly came out with his favourite saying.................cautious indeed...............one of those guys that was probably scared to fart in case he followed through!

Reg ! .... now thats another one I'd forgot about. Great bloke, like you said, we new where we stood with Reg, he took control straight away.

Do you remember some of the othersthat used to travel with the supporters club, in those days..... Harker and Skully, come to mind.

Skully (from Lundwood, I think) was the one that always looked for a piano in the pubs/ clubs we stopped in. Always remember him filling the concert room with localsin aWMC in Goole, before a pre-season friendly, when he jumped up on the stage and started playing, the Steward was that impressed with his style, hewanted to book him regular.

Sounds as though you may be a little older than me Old Red. When I went on those coaches from Supporters clubs I it was late 70s/early 80s and I would be sort of between 8 years old and 14 years old during that period. So I didn't usually get to indulge in a beer or two (I was allowed a Shandy at best when we stopped at pubs) and although I knew of most of the characters mentioned I can't say I actually knew them personally (if that makes sense). What I do remember- even at that early age is all the good natured banter that went on. It definately added to the enjoyment of travelling away and watching the game.

One other guy that springs to mid is a shortish, chubbyish bloke. He had black thick rimmed glasss (a bit like Ronnie Corbett when in the two Ronnies!). He was quite a loudish boke and seemed to to always have a porn mag available. He also tended to read out the stories for the benefit of the whole coach......yet another legend from the BFC supporters club! Cant remember his name although he was a dirty little so and so that's for sure!
