Although I can't remember KO's being 3:15. I remember many of our final results weren't the results in the Green un. (Sometimes would be in the late results section along with a few non league clubs lol). We used to get earlier editions as they were being edited in real time. Where I believe the Barnsley editions were different to the Sheffield ones. To get em to the newsagents afore they closed. On very odd occasions had to pick up next morning, ours would close about 6pm on the dot. Used to infuriate us that were waiting for em to arrive.
League tables having to be worked out/updated when I got home and heard the final results.

Not sure on the issue of 3.15 KO times but I seem to recall evening kick offs for all clubs changed as part of the Taylor report recommendations?

I rarely go on facebook. Best place to catch me is on Twitter.

Here are a couple of fixture lists taken from the Mirror Mar 1969. Quite a few teams playing on a Saturday evening

Looking at old programmes online I can't find anything other than 3-15 Kick offs on Saturdays.
This one is from 1945...note the very adventurous playing kit from BFC

From what I remember the clubs and pubs shut at 3:00 and the bar opened in the ground at 2:30. I remember the bar to the left of the Kop was always full for the whole match

I remember match days before the floodlights were installed, in Winter the kick off was 2.15pm.

That seems to confirm my recollection.
My first match was 76 and it had recently changed

    Correct.

The BBC football results used to pee me off "Barnsley vs Anybody, late kick off".....

Just stumbled on something online, bizarrely in the Aberdeen Evening Express, and I remembered this thread and thought I'd post it. Apparently the decision to return to 3pm kick offs was taken in July 1976 - the paper is dated 17th so you're spot on @Turvey Tyke. I know btw that Cunning Stunt is sadly no longer with us but thought it may be of interest to others. Btw, had 3:15 kick offs really been happening for 30 years as it suggests? Edit: just seen the photo of the programme from 1945......

If the point of starting late due Miners shifts is correct, did other mining communities do the same or did the Barnsley area work different hours?
If they worked different hours what was the reason?

Don't know but my (youthfull, happily) recollection was that we kicked off on Saturdaysat 3:15 and on weekdays at 7:15 p.m.

I definitely remember the 3:15 kick offs on Saturdays. Meant you always missed the first reading of the results at 5 as you couldn’t get back to the car in time. Don’t really remember the evening kick off time I would have said 7:30 but that may have been after 76

Correct. Our home results tended to be in the stop press panel on the back page.

I thought we kicked off at 3-15 because Town Hall clock was 15 minutes slow and no one had watch
