I can't really argue with this. I hope this is just a case of going backwards in order to move forwards but in all honesty I think its going to be a long road back.
Problem is though, come kick off time we could at least be seen to be trying. Playing hoofball up to O'Grady on his own will prove to be just as unsuccessful in League One I'm afraid, where the average centre back is more likely to be built like M'Voto than Crainie.
I don't think I've seen anyone demand that Cryne puts in more money. Apparently there have been offers of investment which have been turned down but I don't know how true this is. The problem I have is that we have done so little to take the club forward commercially because we are not willing to invest areas that would provide a return and have tried to do everything on a shoestring. You can't operate that way at this level.
Because you are comparing teams that ave done OK for one or two seasons as opposed to us that have been established for eight seasons .anybody can be fly by nights Peterborough,Donny,Scunny Southend, colchester.etc but to compare their chairmen to cryne I know which as turned out best.they would have loved to achieve what cryne as done, maybe just maybe his buisness skills have been the difference.
The two clubs I was referring to were Burnley and Bournemouth. I would argue that after eight years at this level the club should have been developed off the field and the means that we have to live to might be a bit more comfortable.
This has been coming for a few years. Bad transfer management, lack of a proper marketing policy, racing ahead of the FFP rules, bad manager decisions, low expectations, the list goes on. You reap what you sow.
Bournemouth is hardly a fair comparison they are not noted normally as a regular championship team but that may change with the money now invested/borrowed.hope for their fans sake its a long and committed relationship. Burnley are a real success story and good luck to them as they along with us were of the favourites to go down this season. Their story is very similar to our promotion took a chance on dyche, had some decent players and added wisely/fortunately . It could have been for us also if the expectation of flicker had come off a gambles a gamble. But to get on at cryne when we all know he's a reluctant owner but refuses to put the club in jeapordy by selling to anyone without the clubs interest at heart. Let's face it we are not a hot property.the vast majority of clubs that have had our continued status are we'll in font of us in terms of attendance/investors etc
cryne and the board should have given robbins a bit to spend because in my opinion we would have progressed under him,i'm not talking promotion here, but year on year steadily working our way away from relegation, There are figures of around 5-6 million being the amount we lose if we get relegated,a gamble of half that figure would have given us better players than the rubbish brought in by hill we've gone backwards since robbins walked away.
I always wonder 'what if' regarding Robins. But look at Huddersfield. Spent some pretty pennies there and they've been ***** in general. Progress? Hmmm. Their supporters don't reckon so.
Of course we would. But the fact is they have had significant investment which really hasn't pushed them near the playoffs has it?
