Like you've said, both parties are to blame at times. There's nothing more infuriating than trying to overtake 2 cyclists riding 2 abreast on a 60mph country road, it is dangerous and impractical to wait behind them for several minutes as road users are going to become impatient and take risks.

Equally, some road users need to be more careful passing cyclists and understand that sometimes it isnt safe for them to be cycling next to the curb due to potholes and drains etc.

Thank you Brush. I think some people have the impression that riding two abreast is now the thing to do, certainly here in Bristol. I can understand on country lanes, or for the reasons listed above (when riding with inexperienced riders or young children etc.). I regularly come across a fair few experienced (usually lycra-clad lol) grown men riding side by side, taking up most of the lane and appearing oblivious to other road users, and in the city this is nonsensical. It should be 'one abreast' in built up, urban areas. I have no bug bear with ordinary cyclists in the same way I respect bikers. I see the human being on two wheels, and I want them to be safe and get home safe. I see the rage from other car drivers towards them (sometimes just for the presence of a cyclist), which is totally uncalled for and will probably damage their heart long-term, and I have seen the pathetic 'cyclists' on YouTube who, rather than giving the benefit of the doubt to a car driver will try and 'catch them out' and are chasing views on YouTube; rather than trying to use some common sense and give benefit of the doubt, they appear to take pleasure in seeing car drivers totally lose control - both sets are pathetic and need to grow up.

My biggest problem are the electric scooter riders who don't need a driving licence to ride them and often appear totally unstable (physically wobbling); at night half of them are likely on drink and/or drugs the way they take risks (risking their own life and other road users), and for me these scooters pose the biggest risk and should be banned.

You should live here where sports cycling is a mational sport. Following a gaggle of riders practising often upwards of 10 C/W support vehicle, along narrow rural roads with bends hairpins and hills is not exactly 'fun'. The one plus point is they are probably going nearly as fast as cars most of the time nd sometimes on downhill straight sections are travelling as fast as I would be driving. The problem is they take up half of the road width and soemtimes more when exchanging lead posttion so it would be impossible to leave a metre and a half space. I dread to think what would happen anyway if I wash alfway into a n oevrtake and they had a Peloton type pile-up.
