You still have not stated how all the World' energy requirements can be met with zero carbon solutions and specialised plastics made from hydrocarbons will be replaced all within a short time frame. You say there is plenty of evidence out there supporting your PoV but choose to ignore my request that you provide it. Nice double negative by the way in your quote .

There is evidence aplenty that the UK can be self-sufficient with green energy (solar and wind) within a short timeframe, the only problem being power storage; but there have been significant advances in recent years. If it can be done in the UK then the rest of the world can do it too.

You're right about petrochemical products (plastics etc) but the amount of oil needed for that is miniscule in proportion to what is simply burnt. A very much reduced oil industry to provide for such manufacture would be relatively benign - continuing for long enough to develop those alternatives you mention. Reducing the demand for oil and gas for energy would have the massively beneficial side product of reducing the power and wealth of such lovely people as Putin and the Saudis.

    What's not to like?

I think everyones view on how protests should be made and how far they should go in terms of the protestors actions are very subjective.

if you feel extremely strongly about a particular issue, you will probably be more likely to take a far more lenient view on the actions taken.

If you don't really agree about the issue in question or take a fairly neutral stance, you then are more likely to be critical of the actions taken.

It's like being offended, very individual and subjective.

This is a superb stand up routine from Steve Hughes on Health & Safety, Common Sense and being offended. Sums it up quite well.
