They've taken a defeat off Flicker and given it Mellon, I think. Can't be arsed figuring out if the rest are reight. But I think it's a good indicator that we ought to give a manager a lengthy spell in charge. If not Danny, then the next man for definite. We can't keep repeating this **** every 18 months or whatever.
Look at the berk's record - 54.6% loss rate. And people still try to portray him in a positive light. Mind, Wilson's record this time around is almost as bad - 51.4% loss rate.
Bassett and Ritchie sacked despite only being defeated on average once every 3 or so games. Which isn't a bad record to me. Hard teams to beat.
I had a quick look through these stats and noticed quite a few mistakes starting with Mellon and Flickers total games. I also noticed the only Barnsley manager never to loose a game (or concede a goal) is missing from the list. Anybody know who I'm on about???
I really liked Ritchie but his record in the championship, not league one, was very poor and I genuinely believe that had we not made a change we'd have been relegated by April.
1993 we had a black manager, have that Garth Crooks!!!!!!!! Then he left to be a somebody's number 2, we gave him an oppourtunity and he didn't want it..
The only Barnsley manager with a perfect record is ... Mick Wadsworth. Following the removal of Mel Machin in May 1993 he took over for the final game of the season at home to Swindon Town. The Super Reds won 1-0.
Re: The only Barnsley manager with a perfect record is ... By Jove, sir, you're right. No surprise there.
Re: The only Barnsley manager with a perfect record is ... I noticed that Gerry Young was also missing from the list. He took over when Iley (Out) jumped ship to Blackburn. I was of the same opion as you about Jim Iley but I recently found an interview with him from when he took over the club. He says prior to playing professional football he was a Barnsley fan and watched them through the 50s. He described getting the job as coming home.
Re: The only Barnsley manager with a perfect record is ... Yeah, you're right about Gerry Young. I wouldn't mind reading that Jim Iley interview if you've still got it on file somewhere, mate.
Re: The only Barnsley manager with a perfect record is ... Why does it always quote win percentages when ppg is the one to judge a manager on.
