the players are not the problem i think the players we have are more than competant at doing well in this league. Its how they are being told to play that is the problem. We are devoid of ideas on how to attack teams, the players we have are not being used to their strengths and there is **** all link up play between midfield and attack. We have an international striker in mostto and he needs the ball to his feet, balls he can run onto. All he gets are hoofed passed over the top that are intercepted the majority of the time. We constantly have this massive hole in the middle of the park, the strikers are having to drop so deep to pick up the ball there is nobody running the line. The tactics are shocking. imho davey is hoping da silva is going to dig him out of a hole. Im no expert but the above are so obvious.
A very good question It would depend on who'd actually be interested in the job. That MAY include out of work managers with Championship experience (ala Billy Davies, Ian Holloway, Steve Cotterill), managers currently cutting their teeth at a lower level (eg. John Sheridan, Mark Robins), or players recently retired who are wanting to take their first step into club management (for example Teddy Sheringham, Neil Lennon) in the same way that Paul Ince did a couple of years ago at Macclesfield (who were well adrift at the bottom of the Football League at the time). It is highly unlikely that were Simon Davey to lose his job, the new manager (whoever was chosen) would meet with universal approval.
Da Silva - Davey's escape card Davey's said that when all the players are available, things will lift off. They're all back now apart from JCR, Da Silva, and Muller. Steele seems to be playing well enough, so really he's placing huge faith on one player above all, Da Silva, to turn things round. This is a big ask of Da Silva, especially from a bad injury, but we have to ask whether Davey is competent enough even with a full squad. Take away the Cup games against Liverpool and Chelsea and his record since the New Year is pretty dire. I can understand Patrick Cryne wanting to give Davey a chance, but things must improve pretty damned quick before we're adrift in the league.
RE: Your wish is for us to get tonked on Tuesday? I am a Barnsley fan, when in admin i travelled to ALL the away games with my bucket , getting abuse and spat at by opposing fans as well as "contributing" with the Supporters trust for ideas how to keep "MY" club in existence, so donyt give me that about a "true" Barnsley fan.. All i want is whats right for the club and its plain to see even to the blind that Davey is taking us backwards, even if De Silva came back then he woukld only be one player whom would have to take at least 5 to 6 games to get back to what he was. The quicker Davey goes then the more time and gamews we will have to "scrape through the season with a experienced manager. The players are not playing for Davey and THERE is unrest in the dressing room. Im afraid if it does take a loss on tuesday to get rid of the inept tactically naive arrogant excuse of a manager we have then so be it. Thats my opinion if you dont like it then tough, i want whats best for my club and im not prepared to be one of the"sheep" who blindly follow the manager.
